Bug#707544: synaptic: After Update Synaptic Fails to Change Preferred Version
Package: synaptic Version: 0.80 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I updated synaptic and tried to check what versions of software are available from Experimental. So I went to Settings, Preferences, Distribution and selected Prefer versions from Experimental. Clicked apply and Ok. Checked what is available in Installed(upgradable) And it didn't reload as before it did. Went back to check what is selected in the Preferences menu and its still the original value. Bug#706632: efibootmgr: I confirm this bug
Package: efibootmgr Version: 0.5.4-5 Followup-For: Bug #706632 Dear Maintainer, The first install I made with my new or actually used UEFI enabled computer was from Steves update 2 of EFI boot network install CD:s. A while later I needed to do it again so I did it from update4 as it was the latest at that point. Both worked. After I updated the kernel and grub I ended up in Windows without any grub menu. So to fix this I came back to my Debian install with SuperGrub2 CD. After several tries with efibootmgr and different ways I cannot add an entry to the UEFI Boot table. When running this command I expect to get an entry to the table: #efibootmgr --create --gpt --disk /dev/sda --part 4 --write-signature --label GRUB2 --loader '\EFI\debian\grubx64.efi' -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.8-1-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages efibootmgr depends on: ii libc62.17-1 ii libpci3 1:3.1.9-6 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-1 efibootmgr recommends no packages. efibootmgr suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#674931: flashplugin-nonfree: After upgrade double flash plugins are installed, that causes Totem to run instead of Flashplugin.
Package: flashplugin-nonfree Version: 1:2.8.4 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I had a problem with Flash-plugin after upgrading my system. I think it started in about a weeks time. I upgraded some packages from Experimental as upgrading all that was available in unstable tried to remove packages in other cases. * What led up to the situation? I think an upgrade inside a couple weeks did. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I tried to read the Epaper that I usually read on my Ubuntu laptop on my Debian Unstable / Experimental desktop. * What was the outcome of this action? Flash plugin didn't run but instead I saw Totem video plugin. * What outcome did you expect instead? Flash to start and the paper to load. I had the same problem with flash videos. The situation was the same for Chromium. I found a work around by disabling the other (old) plugin in Iceweasels config. -- Package-specific info: Debian version: wheezy/sid Architecture: amd64 Package version: 1:2.8.4 Adobe Flash Player version: LNX 11,2,202,235 MD5 checksums: 49b55c7eb8044453e5f6f2e4b3cb4084 /var/cache/flashplugin-nonfree/flashplayer10_2_p3_64bit_linux_111710.tar.gz d508ebb81be22585bf79df75908247c7 /var/cache/flashplugin-nonfree/install_flash_player_11_linux.x86_64.tar.gz 177c43e678a658d84488096ae97b6933 /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so Alternatives: flash-mozilla.so - auto mode link currently points to /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so - priority 50 Current 'best' version is '/usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so'. lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 34 May 27 22:21 /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flash-mozilla.so - /etc/alternatives/flash-mozilla.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flash-mozilla.so: symbolic link to `/etc/alternatives/flash-mozilla.so' -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=fi_FI.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages flashplugin-nonfree depends on: ii binutils 2.22-6.1 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.43 ii gnupg 1.4.12-4 ii libatk1.0-02.4.0-2 ii libcairo2 1.12.2-2 ii libcurl3-gnutls7.26.0-1 ii libfontconfig1 2.9.0-5 ii libfreetype6 2.4.9-1 ii libgcc11:4.7.0-9 ii libglib2.0-0 2.32.3-1 ii libgtk2.0-02.24.10-1 ii libnspr4-0d2:4.9-3 ii libnss3-1d 2:3.13.4-3 ii libpango1.0-0 1.30.0-1 ii libstdc++6 4.7.0-9 ii libx11-6 2:1.4.99.901-2 ii libxext6 2:1.3.1-2 ii libxt6 1:1.1.3-1 ii wget 1.13.4-3 flashplugin-nonfree recommends no packages. Bug#557871: [boinc-client] Isn't able to use suitable Nvidia GPU for calculations
Package: boinc-client Version: 6.10.17+dfsg-1 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- I started working on using the GPU for boinc projects and found out that it didn't work. Bug#433448: [gnome-session] I got ten instances of a program on saved session startup.
Package: gnome-session Version: 2.22.3-2 --- Please enter the report below this line. --- I think I found a related bug on my system just a few days ago. I had just set gnome-session-properties to save session = enabled for a while. After a few reboots I went to disable it as it didn't meet my needs. To my surprise I found out that I'm running ten instances of seahorse-agent with different sm-config-prefix options. Seahorse-agent didn't have the parameter --sm-disable. I disabled the instances by saving a session where I killed them. Though I think the instances shouldn't have been there in the first place. The other programs that had --sm-disable didn't save to the session and start multiple instances anymore. So if thats the only case this issue is tracking it can probably be closed. Though gnome-session should probably still have a bug on saved sessions as the above behaviour isn't what people want. --- System information. --- Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux 2.6.28.4 Debian Release: 5.0 500 unstable ftp.sunet.se 500 unstable ftp.funet.fi 500 unstable ftp.fi.debian.org --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed -+-=== libatk1.0-0 (= 1.20.0) | 1.22.0-1 libbonobo2-0 (= 2.15.0) | 2.22.0-1 libc6 (= 2.7-1) | 2.7-18 libdbus-1-3 (= 1.0.2) | 1.2.1-5 libdbus-glib-1-2 (= 0.71) | 0.76-1 libgconf2-4 (= 2.13.5) | 2.22.0-1 libglib2.0-0 (= 2.16.0) | 2.16.6-1 libgnome-keyring0 (= 2.22.0) | 2.22.3-2 libgnome2-0 (= 2.17.3) | 2.20.1.1-2 libgnomeui-0 (= 2.17.1) | 2.20.1.1-2 libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.12.0) | 2.12.11-4 libice6 (= 1:1.0.0) | 2:1.0.4-1 liborbit2 (= 1:2.14.10) | 1:2.14.16-0.1 libpango1.0-0 (= 1.20.3) | 1.20.5-3 libsm6 | 2:1.0.3-2 libwrap0 (= 7.6-4~) | 7.6.q-16 libx11-6 | 2:1.1.5-2 libxau6 | 1:1.0.3-3 gconf2 (= 2.12.1-1) | 2.22.0-1 gnome-control-center (= 1:2.22) | 1:2.22.2.1-2 gnome-settings-daemon | 2.22.2.1-2 signature.asc Description: Digitaalisesti allekirjoitettu viestin osa

Bug#455573: Splashy made system unable to boot
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi I would have booted the system with the debian kernel but it cannot boot because of initramfs not working. I have an serial ata root and the drivers aren't loaded without the initrd. So I've tried again with the two kernels mentioned before 2.6.21 and 2.6.18 both compiled with vesafb-tng patch. When I start without the splash it starts fine until gdm should start. When gdm doesn't come up I just logged in to the console and tried to start it manually and it didn't start. And the splashy install script complained about initrd not changed log attached. Might the initrd problems in yaird and newer kernels be causing this. Anything else I could try? I would try to compile another newer kernel but I can't get it to boot because of the yaird (initrd) problem. Here are the errors I get from the console when boot stops for maintenance (the last lines visible): Starting the hotplug events dispatcher: udevdSplashy ERROR: Connection refused Splashy ERROR: Couln't splashy_start_splashy(). Bug#426800: Graphical errors in game. Screenshot linked.
Hi I'm using nvidia beta drivers 100.13.06 now. Earlier if I remember correctly I was using the stable 9755 drivers with the same results. I've installed the drivers with nvidia installer. Might it matter that I have xorg set up so that I can occasionally try compiz. (though I wasn't running compiz at the time of problem) So I have in xorg.conf AllowGLXWithComposite true, AddARGBVisuals true, rendererAccel true. -- Mika Rudy Godoy Guillén wrote: On 30/05/2007 at 19:44 Mika Rastas wrote... Bug#422231: It's splashy's bug after all...

If framebuffer console is enabled, could you try without it? When I removed the splash screen command line option (splashy) the screen came clear. Tested on two computers. And a few boots. When digging a bit in to splashy I found this: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/splashy-devel/2007-April/000674.html So now it seems that it has been splashy 0.3.2 that caused the problems. After updating to 0.3.3 I have not seen problems with any kernel or xorg. (On a small number of boots though) So I think this report can be closed and maybe before that moved to splashy package? Bug#422231: xserver-xorg-core: Found out the bug is only visible when running a 2.6.20 kernel.
Package: xserver-xorg-core Version: 2:1.1.1-21 Followup-For: Bug #422231 So I downgraded a bunch of packages. It didn't make a change. After that I remembered that at first were thinking that the bug might be related to my kernel upgrade. So about 5 boots later I'am firmly confident that the problem shows itself only on kernel 2.6.20. On this computer I have compiled my kernel from debian sources with the vesa-tng patch. On the other computer the kernel is the official debian kernel 2.6.20-1-k7. On 2.6.18 self compiled it's all good. Also The black rectangles are only shown when in X. Not when I'am in a console with framebuffer. Might the kernel be the source of the bug after all? Or is the kernel doing something different and xorg is not upto it yet? I'll try to compile the latest from kernel.org and see if its any different. -- Package-specific info: Contents of /var/lib/x11/X.roster: xserver-xorg /etc/X11/X target unchanged from checksum in /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum. Bug#420619: Applications button dissappears when more than two applications added to favourites.
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Package: gnome-main-menu Version: 0.9.6.svn.18032007-1 Severity: important - --- Please enter the report below this line. --- When adding an application to the favourites via the application browser if there allready are two applications in the menu it doesn't show anything. The applications button dissappears and the more applications... button cannot be easily pushed to remove the newly added favourite. User can however run the /usr/lib/gnome-main-menu/application-browser via command line and remove the third favourite application and get the main-menu applications button to appear again. Bug#420625: Qingy doesn't let go of the framebuffer so that closed nvidia driver can get loaded or vise versa.
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Package: qingy Version: 0.9.3ds1-1 Severity: minor - --- Please enter the report below this line. --- I was trying out the qingy package for tty2 and noticed that after an xorg update near 20.4.2007 and after that the usual nvidia-binary driver installer run X didn't start with gdm. It worked fine when I changed the nvidia driver back to the open source nv one. Allso nvidia drivers worked fine when I disabled qingy from tty2 and went back to using getty. Thats why the minor flag. Also This might better belong to nvidia driver package not this one but I thought you'd like to know. (I've read something about nvidia's driver locking the bus so that for instance the temperature monitoring is hard for us open source guys...) Other tty's are in resolution 1280x1024 so They are too using the frame-buffer. And my frame-buffer is from vesa-tng so that's one other place to blame if you so want to do ;). And the kernel has been make-kpkg compiled from debian kernels sources with the vesa-tng patch. Bug#345724: Possible work around.
Hi I had the same issue during nightly update. Complaint about overlapping directories with eclipse-source. It could be worked around (at least for me) by removing eclipse-source and then re-installing after the eclipse-platform update.
