The package freedesktop-sound-theme is installed and I don't have any
system sounds, except some exclamations in some applications.

When upgrading from Lenny to Squeeze, the path prefix /usr/X11R6/bin given in

There should be a transition mechanism that replaces the /usr/X11R6/bin

Thanks for the tip : I compiled and installed the esound-0.2.38 package
from Ubuntu and everything works now OK.
I think this *big* bug should be fixed at least before the release of
Debian Lenny!

Hi,
same problem with Scite 1.71 on Debian testing : Scite crashes every time I
try to open a file.
I found this workaround somewhere on the web : launch Scite like this :
LANG=C /usr/bin/scite
and it doesn't crash anymore when opening files...
I tried with Scite versions 1.72, 1.74 and 1.75 :
-- and copy libfreetype.so.6
and libfreetype.so.6.3.8 to /usr/lib/openoffice/program) fortunately worked
for me.
Please, fix this bug because many users should have it and probably are not
aware of the workaround...

Hi,
I have the same problem on my two Debian testing boxes : sound works OK
for playing, start sound is OK, I can test event sounds in control
center, but the event sounds are not played in the panel nor applications.
Note that these sounds were working OK in Gnome 2.16 and that the bug
Hi again,
the workaround given here http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435109
works for me :
running /usr/bin/esd before logging-in to GNOME will solve the problem
So I added the line :
esd -nobeeps
to my .xsession file and started in GDM an xclient session instead of a
Gnome session
I've seen this bug has been closed, but it is still there on Debian testing
with kernel 2.6.17.8 and udev 0.093-1.
The same message %e is deprecated, will be removed and is unlikely to work
correctly etc. appears during the boot process.
Should be easy to fix this, isn't it?

Package: metacity
Version: 2.14.1-1
This bug is connected to the bug #361273 of the gnome-terminal package.
The problem is the following : normally, when starting an application from
gnome-terminal, its window would pop up in the foreground. Now, when I start
an application from gnome-terminal,
After some investigation, I finally found that the bug was introduced when
upgrading Metacity to version 2.14.1. Downgrading Metacity to version
2.12.3 fixed this annoying bug...
So it's time to fill in a bug report for Metacity...

For me, this is *not* a minor bug because it can be very confusing, if the
terminal window is large because it can hide the launched application!
Thus, I hope it's not rather a bug than a functionnality!

The same problem arises with the 'user' option, but there is a little
subtitility because it seems that the 'noexec, nosuid, nodev' options are
then automatically added by the calling program. Thus in this case the
smbmount shell should be modified like this :
