Bug#403877: xemacs21-nomule: dired does not work properly
Package: xemacs21-nomule Version: 21.4.19-2 Severity: normal Dear Bug Team! I just installed Debian Etch on a new Laptop together with the latest XEmacs 21.4.19 nomule. When I opened a directory in dired mode two strange things happens: (1) at the end of the file listing I find a mounstrous string of the form //DIRED// 61 62 111 113 162 174 223 241 290 299 348 353 402 411 460 //469 518 527 576 585 634 648 697 715 764 782 831 849 898 916 965 983 //1032 1050 1099 1117 1166 1175 1224 1229 1278 1289 1338 1343 1392 //1398 1447 1457 1506 1523 1572 1585 1634 1648 1697 1710 1759 1765 //1814 1824 1873 1883 1932 1942 1991 1996 2045 2054 2103 2110 2159 //2170 2219 2225 2274 2290 2339 2354 2403 2421 2470 2485 2534 2549 //2598 2613 2662 2677 2726 2732 2781 2785 2834 2838 2887 2895 2944 //2950 2999 3004 3053 3067 3116 3121 3170 3175 3224 3236 3285 3309 //3358 3379 3428 3432 3481 3504 3553 3564 3613 3625 3674 3684 3733 //3748 3797 3810 3859 3865 3914 3918 3967 3978 4027 4037 4086 4102 //4151 4158 4207 4216 4265 4275 4324 4339 4388 4401 4450 4454 4503 //4510 4559 4562 4611 4616 4665 4673 4722 4732 4781 4790 4839 4849 //4898 4901 4950 4955 5004 5014 5063 5069 5118 5125 5174 5182 //DIRED-OPTIONS// --quoting-style=literal all in one line. I have never seen something before. (2) while this can be considered as a design question (if so quite ugly) however what is more serious is that I can't set any longer symbolic links on marked files (individually it works) I have attached the backtrace thanks I also found the solution (setq dired-use-ls-dired nil) That was default in earlier versions now it is *t* which causes the problems. Please set it to *nil* again Uwe Brauer dired-bug Description: Binary data -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-3-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages xemacs21-nomule depends on: ii emacsen-common1.4.17 Common facilities for all emacsen ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-8GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcompfaceg1 1:1.5.2-4 Compress/decompress images for mai ii libdb33.2.9+dfsg-0.1 Berkeley v3 Database Libraries [ru ii libgpmg1 1.19.6-23 General Purpose Mouse - shared lib ii libice6 1:1.0.1-2 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-13 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libldap2 2.1.30-13+b1 OpenLDAP libraries ii libncurses5 5.5-5 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libpng12-01.2.15~beta5-0 PNG library - runtime ii libsm61:1.0.1-3 X11 Session Management library ii libtiff4 3.8.2-6Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-4 X11 client-side library ii libxaw7 1:1.0.2-4 X11 Athena Widget library ii libxext6 1:1.0.1-2 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxmu6 1:1.0.2-2 X11 miscellaneous utility library ii libxpm4 1:3.5.5-2 X11 pixmap library ii libxt61:1.0.2-2 X11 toolkit intrinsics library ii xemacs21-basesupport 2006.05.10-1 Editor and kitchen sink -- compile ii xemacs21-bin 21.4.19-2 highly customizable text editor -- ii xemacs21-support 21.4.19-2 highly customizable text editor -- xemacs21-nomule recommends no packages. -- no debconf information
Bug#347610: Any progress?
amaya == amaya [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: amaya retitle 347610 [Witing for submitter] Kernel 2.6.10 and amaya firmware 1.3 don't work in Knoppix thanks Hi Amaya Sorry for the delay. amaya Hi, Uwe amaya Did you make any progress on this issue? Well yes and no. The laptop running knoppix, various kernels 2.6.10, 2.6.13 and 2.6.15 have these problems. I should add that I compiled that kernels myself. I installed on the Laptop I am currently using, directly debian etch and not any longer knoppix, the kernel which is shipped with etch ie 2.6.15-1-486 works fine with that card! amaya Daniel told me that he is working on ipw* this weekend and I would like amaya you to look at bug http://bugs.debian.org/337920 amaya If you upgrade to the latest available kernel version in amaya Debian (linux-image-2.6.18-1-ARCH), and the update ipw2100 amaya to the version Daniel is about to upload, I think this bug amaya should be fixed too. Well honestly the only thing I never did (or dared to do) was to install a debian kernel. I usually take what comes with the installation or compile it myself. Given the fact that the problem seems to be connected with privately compiled kernels, do you still want to be to install the latest debian kernel??? (I presume apt-get install linux-image-2.6.18-1-ARCH and rebooting (I use grub) should be fine?) Regards Uwe -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#380651: apache2: can't open php files
Package: apache2 Version: 2.0.55-4 Severity: normal Hello I tried to install for example wordpress (either using the debian package or download it by myself). The issue is whenever I should open say the file install.php then in mozilla the following message pops up the file install.php is of type application/x-php (php script) and mozilla does not know what to do about it So it seems that the php4 module is not loaded, but I don't understand why libapache2-mod-php4 and all the php4 package are installed. The php4.load file in /etc/apache2/mods-available contains LoadModule php4_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp4.so And this lib exists. So I don't know. Shall I submit any other script? If you use XCDRoast, please add the device manually and Ivan enter /dev/hdX as the device. IvanTell us if it works then. IvanThank you. Hello Thanks for your answer, it did not work, first! But then I realized what happened: Knoppix has linked /dev/cdrom to /dev/sd0 and moreover has a boot option which I used as well: --8schnipp-8--- append=ramdisk_size=10 resume2=swap:/dev/hda7 lang=de apm=power-off hda=scsi hdb=scsi hdc=scsi hdd=scsi hde=scsi hdf=scsi hdg=scsi hdh=scsi nomce --8schnapp-8--- That of course makes it perfectly understandable that the module ide-scsi is always loaded. (I understand the reasons for Knoppix to chose that append option). When I rebooted without that option and used xcdroast it worked! However I got the following error and I would like to have anybody comment on it: The ATAPI mode on a device can cause great delays in all X-CD-Roast operations, because communication with it takes much more time. Using a CD writer in that mode is not recommended - please use always SCSI emulation here The other question which I still did not resolve, why does the Knoppix 2.4.27 and 2.6.9 kernels work happily with the scsi emulation!!! Anyway strictly speaking the BUG is resolved. Thanks Uwe Brauer

Bug#312483: libmyodbc: Tables cannot be edited with Openoffice.
Steve == Steve Langasek [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: [snip] Steve Right, this does seem to be trivially reproducible in Steve sarge. It looks like there's been a change in OpenOffice Steve that triggered it, rather than a regression in libmyodbc Steve itself; even installing the woody version of libmyodbc Steve doesn't get me read/write table access with the sarge Steve version of OOo. Your are talking about using the macro, no? [snip] Sorry, what I meant, I could *NOT* install 2.50 from oldstable the command apt-get install -t oldstable libmyodb installed version 3.51.09 sorry for the typo. Steve # apt-get install libmyodbc=2.50.39-3 Thanks for that one. Steve works for me. It appears that the Release file for woody still says Steve stable instead of oldstable, so selecting by release doesn't work Steve currently. [snip] Steve And downgrading to anything earlier than 3.51.09 would also break Steve compatibility with MySQL server 4.1. Ok I was afraid of that, I could try the MySQL server which would work for the 2.50 driver though, but maybe this would not work neither (maybe I should start to use pinning.) Now it turns out that I have a serious connection problem. The latest upgrade of mysql which I downloaded yesterday, does not allow anonymous connection anymore. So right now I can't do any testing anymore on the Laptop with the most recent Debian version. I would highly appreciate if you could just tell me about my .odbc setting, which I obviously have to change. I am asking you this since I am in a state of desperation (strictly speaking that question is a little off topic). In recent years I followed the instructions found in www.unixodbc.org/doc/OOoMySQL.pdf so I used the following .odbc.ini (in my home dir) and --8schnipp-8--- [MySQL-test] Description = MySQL database test Driver = MySQL Server = localhost user = oub Database = test Port = 3306 Socket = Option = Stmt = --8schnapp-8--- ocbcinst.ini files in /etc --8schnipp-8--- Description = MySQL driver Driver = /usr/lib/odbc/libmyodbc.so Setup = /usr/lib/odbc/libodbcmyS.so FileUsage = 1 --8schnapp-8--- Now debian overwrites the file in /etc by --8schnipp-8--- [MySQL] Description = MySQL driver Driver = /usr/lib/odbc/libmyodbc.so Setup = /usr/lib/odbc/libodbcmyS.so CPTimeout = CPReuse = FileUsage = 1 --8schnapp-8--- - anonymous connection is now disabled, does this mean I have to set in my odbc.ini user = oub? - is the name conflict of [MySQL] in odbcinst.ini and [MySQL-test] a problem. I changed [MySQL-test] to [MySQL] in my .odbc.ini file but still I get the message: [ISQL]ERROR: Could not SQLConnect What can I do now? Couldn't you move that version to stable, Steve Well, no; first because it doesn't exist anywhere in the Steve archive, and second because the policy for updates to Steve stable releases prohibits it. This bug, if it truly Steve renders MyODBC unusable with the current OOo packages, is Steve irritating, but it doesn't make the package unusable for Steve all purposes. Bug#312689: mysql-server: mysql -utest does no work any longer

For me to check the installation mysql -utest worked always, in suse and after switching to debian (4.0.22). Now when I upgraded to 4.0.24 the command did not work I got ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' (Using password: NO Which looks pretty much like an security issue. I looked up in the changelog and saw some changes in the scripts in /etc/mysql. However for me it unclear how I have to connect now to the database. Another point: I saw that version 4.0.24 in all, three branches (stable testing unstable) and I fail to see the rationale behind this. If for some reason a version in unstable has a bug I could downgrade to the older version, but now I can't. The only explanation for this policy seems to me a serious security problem. Although it is based on a recent version of tex4ht, I am wondering why the original scripts like oolatex _are not_ included. This is a question of convenience and I don't see what is the advantage of *not* including them. Bug#295248: tex4ht: interested in providing a patch for the upgrade
Package: tex4ht Version: 20030426-3 Severity: wishlist Followup-For: Bug #256834 Hello as I said in the bug report 256834, it would be good to have an upgrade. I managed to install a recent tex4ht version, however I use alien together with checkinstall to produce a deb file. Could somebody please point me to a documentation how to produce a *real* deb, in order to supply a patch. Package: pgp Version: 2.6.3a-9 Severity: Important Hi I am on sid and installed the above pgp version. (apt-get install -t stable pgp) (I really need pgp for the keys I have) However I recently installed sid on another machine and tried the same apt-get command, however now: apt-get selected pgpgpg. Of course I could download the source, apply the patch install it myself, I just wounder what did wrong. The sources.list files include the non free branch.
