Bug#432288: aptitude: german man page is outdated and thus fuzzy - shouldn't get installed
Hello Nicolas, On Tue, Jul 10, 2007 at 08:24:33PM +0200, Sebastian Kapfer wrote: as I said, if someone gives me a .po to translate, I'll do it. (Also see bug 409782.) I have no intentions to mess around with po4a or anything myself. would you be so kind to put your po4a hat on an produce the po file and send it to Sebastian and Jens? Thanks! Aptitude also has several .txt files which are built from XML IIRC. What about those? Are these localized in any language? Also, maybe Jens Seidel wants to take the manpage, too, has he has been handling the main program for some years. I kept Jens in CC: so you two can agree upon the future maintenance of this file. Quoting Gerfried Fuchs ([EMAIL PROTECTED]): Package: aptitude Version: 0.4.5.4-1 Severity: normal Hi! The German translation of the manpage is outdated. With po files the handling of outdated data is simple: It gets marked fuzzy and not installed into the mo files, thus people get the English originial in that cases. The same should happen with manual pages, too. Outdated manual pages aren't that immensly helpful, and I hope the translators get notified about the updates. Especially since aptitude now spits out something about safe-upgrade but that isn't covered at all in the German language manual page. This is very confusing to the end users. Thanks in advance for either gettting the manual page updated or removing it to not even more confuse the users. Actually, it's just a matter of switching to PO for the german documentation of aptitude..:-) This has already been done for Japanese and French so, if someone volunteers for reviewing/updating a huge 1400-strings PO file, that could be done..:-) Hint: our po4a-wizard, Nicolas François can certainly switch the current german translation pf aptitude XML files to po4a...:-) signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Key 'p' if close to key 'o' on French keyboards ;) Regarding my po4a-wizard hat, I can generate a PO file for po4a based on an existing XML translation. This should speed-up the convertion to a po4a-based translation process. But I don't want to keep the po4a-wizard hat for myself (I'm prety sure there are other po4a-wizard in the German team). Just ask here or ping me on #debian-i18n (oftc) if you want me to convert it. Mit freundlichen Grüssen / Best Regards, -- Nekral
