No problem - the same process applied on my side between the ranting  
about pam_ldap and stop whining and start coding stages.

specific attribute request patch is a no-brainer


Here's the upstream report - I've improved the patch to fix a couple  
of bugs Luke noticed. The main concern I have is testing - it works  
on our systems is disturbingly insufficient for something like  
pam_ldap:

Here's the separate patch with the syslog additions - I think fixing  
the poor visibility issues are quite important as well, since our  
servers malfunction less than the clients:

Yeah, it would...   I've moved my systems from libnss-ldap to
libnss-ldapd - but still suffering from libpam-ldap and its
issues :(  Fortunately, I only use it for password changes.

I've been looking at what it would take to add the missing pam-ldap
functionality to nss-ldapd, and discussing it with others, but I doubt
we'll see anything soon...  so we definitely need to do something about
the crap that is libpam-ldap.
