Is this expected?

I realized today the syntax errors I blamed on mime-support (sorry)
originate from other odd packages.
xloadimage (4.1-23) corrected the syntax errors in the mailcap data
file /usr/lib/mime/packages/xloadimage and closed #747322 on Wed, 28

I made a (user) choice. Am I entitled to do so?
I'm not a believer, yet.
I thought debian all about that.
Got disapointed :/
I don't want any systemd infested packages on my system.
But I didn't pay enough attention :( I find myself in this situation
(with policykit-1 on hold):
$ dpkg --get-sel

While upgrading these packages:
binutils binutils-dev binutils-doc cups-filters cups-filters-core-drivers
glances libcupsfilters1 libfontembed1 otp python-gdbm python-tk
I noticed this:

Here's another example (maybe it helps):
The following packages will be upgraded:
colord colord-data keyutils krb5-multidev libcolord2 libcolorhug2
libgssapi-krb5-2 libgssapi-krb5-2:

I've chosen to keep away from systemd and systemd related packages,
but I haven't been paying enough attention and ended up with these
packages installed on my system:
$ dpkg --get-selections | egrep systemd

Please provide a non-systemd infested alternative. I'm not a systemd
believer, yet.
Attempting to remove this "Priority: optional" package removes some 316
packages, rendering my system (see bug#750909) hardly usable.
The breakage was in

I'm often seeing this:
