Yiou can close this bug report. The segfault was caused by a bad theme.
Strange thing is it looks fine. But once it was removed obconf stopped

Solved my artifact problem by downgrading Icewm to 1.2.35. It runs all themes
without a problem. I have now pinned Icewm to ensure it doesn't get upgraded
at l;east until I switch to another WM.

Those files should be deleted after changing pic selection

Apparently not on my machine. I usually put symlinks into
/home/Picturestoday when I changed the symlinks to point to
another dorectory, it started looking for the pics in the old directory
for several starts in a row.
I had to go into /home/frank/.cache and clean out the directory
