The attached patch should fix the build issue. The logic is : if
readlink -f fails, then the link is absolute and the file is to be found
in debian/tmp.
This logic fixed the issue in the previous version of the package.
Please test the patch and report back.

I have found the contrast to be too low on both the screens I saw it on:
my Thinkpad x61s (laptop, 1024x768), and my desktop (it's a 24 inch
iiyama LCD screen, and I'm not quite certain what is the resolution in
early boot. It's certainly not the native 1920x1080 though).

I can confirm this behavior in version 6.1.1.
The problem comes from the data structure used to save the queue of
folders to be synced. Replacing the dict by a list of lists fixes the
problem, by obviously keepi
t's how I noticed the bug, and the patch I
posted fixes this too (as a side effect, it seems).
