Just tried to open the same base file with a previous version (5.2.7.2)
on another machine: reports open without problems.

I also removed and reinstalled LO (5.4.1.2 debian package) on my pc, to
no avail.

I'm having the same problem as Guido and you. My reports were built in 2015.
Creating a new report works without issues for me too.

I was considering it an extension 'cause I have the same error of
Guido;
so could be interesting to see what's the missing extension or if now for some
reports is considered like an extension. I don't think my report could be
older than 2013, but it's possible.

Bug#875688: libreoffice-report-builder: Design view missing from libre office base. Existing reports won't run.

2017-09-14 Thread Francesco
Package: libreoffice-report-builder
Version: 1:5.4.1-1
Followup-For: Bug #875688

Dear Maintainer,

I think there is something missing in the package: I saw in
mysql-connector extension there is a path that looks like
/usr/lib/libreoffice/share/extensions/mysql-connector-ooo/, so
I expet to find something similar in report-builder or in
report-builder-bin package but nothing pointing to
.../share/extensions/...

For the opener of the bug: are you sure the mysql-connector
extension is used for report-builder? Isn't it's used for
you to connect to yor db? For me db works fine but not the
reporting tool, with the stock libreoffice and without the link
are you able to read your data?

For further information I tried to generate a new report and
it works fine, so I tink it's a form of incompatibility with older ones
whith same errors as reported by Guido.
Maybe we should investigate and find a way to migrate to a newer
format without recreating.

Hmm. As said, works for me (in sid, though, shouldn't matter, though, none
of the dependencies of the report builder broke and got fixed, so that wouldn't
explain breakage in testing, besides that the versions are identical, except
maybe for libsac-java but that difference was there before the last updates.

Where you claimed it worked before, so that can't be it either.

I am afraid *you* have to give more info, it's not reproducible here, as
already said.

Rene

Please define "would not run". Crash? Not start? Any message? Any message
on the terminal? More info is helpful.

Which of course wouldn't do anything given the package just drops files
into LOs extension directory and only does tell LO to reread stuff by a simple
touch to go sure (via libreoffice-commons triggers)...

Huh? What? That is the *JVM* (aka the Oracle JDK), not the report builder.

The report builder would be shows in Tools -> Extensions.

So what is configured for LO? Oracle? Just out of curiosity, what happens
if you changed to OpenJDK? If if you configured Java 7 switched to Java 8?
Maybe something implicitely changed somewhere? (Maybe not even in LO but in
Java stuff LO depends on.)

2017-09-13 Thread william l-k
Package: libreoffice-report-builder
Version: 1:5.4.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

libreoffice-report-builder will not run in base. Critical reports built using
this tool cannot now be run. This occurred after the most recent upgrade to the
debian testing branch.

I tried reconfiguring the extension in dpkg. I also tried downloading the
extension for report builder available from open office - which had a java
incompatibility issue. I checked advanced tab options, and the oracle report
builder is listed there. I'm currently seeking a work around, but libreoffice
base is rendered useless for our purposes without those painstakingly
constructed reports.
