This might be because others are not using Qt5 at all. It's strange, but understandable in case that newer Qt5 is using chromium as a web backend and it is not compileable to anything except x86 and arm and this renders Qt5 almost unusable in modern cases. > I understand that you tried on two machines. Just to be clear: have you > tried with a new user? The older installation on G5 is working the same in all users (tried new one). Please file the upstream bug at https://bugreports.qt.io and then > please send the bug number here. I'll happily subscribe to the bug to follow > it and, if possible at all, help. Reading the bugs there I've found that it is possible that the problem is in QXcbAtom::ButtonWheel* wrong detection. I'm yet unable to find how does Qt5 detects wheel buttons and where from it is getting the mouse events. The xinput shows everything ok, and Qt4 and GTK2/3 apps all are using the wheel perfectly Regarding the bugreport. Bug#894815: plasma-workspace: Lock screen media controls cannot be disabled
¡Hola Gregor! El 2018-04-04 a las 15:34 +0200, Gregor Riepl escribió: Package: plasma-workspace Version: 4:5.12.4-1 Severity: normal The Plasma lockscreen displays start/stop/forward/backward controls when an media player application like VLC, Amarok or SMPlayer is active. It was previously impossible to disable these controls. In Plasma 5.12.2, a system setting was introduced that allows enabling and disabling the feature. In the Debian version of lockscreen however, these settings aren't shown, for an unknown reason. The original KDE bug report is here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389483 A user confirmed that the setting indeed doesn't appear in Debian and Ubuntu, but it works fine in Neon and Arch Linux. Please fix this bug as soon as possible. I can't reproduce the issue here. I see the Show media controls option in the Screen Locking / Appearance kcm interface. Just to be certain, have you tried restarting the session after upgrading plasma-workspace? Versions of packages plasma-workspace depends on: Given that the files mentioned in the bug are under a breeze related path, it might be possible that breeze is implied in this bug. The 'Jump to Folder' (shortcut > 'J') does work and allowed me to see the message from this ML. Turns out to be a false alarm. I quit KMail (Kontact really) and started it up again and then I saw 4 columns instead of just 1 I was used to and only saw when I had the above described issue. Widening that pane so all columns were visible made me able to click it. And later on after hiding the extra columns, things were back to what I was used to and working :) signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Plasma/Qt in Debian Sid is really nice at the moment. Thanks to everyone involved, Pino for kmymoney and a lot of application packages as well as calligra and krita, Lisandro and others involved for Qt, Maxy for frameworks and plasma packages, Scarlett for taking care of updating some packages to KF5 based upstream versions and all the others involved with uploading and preparing packages and testing stuff. Believe me I understand you, I was the one that discovered that part of what seemed to be stable public API was unstable public API. But sadly maintaining packages with unstable API is a nightmare, even more if it is public. Until that API becomes stable enough you might want to consider shipping it as 3rd party code. Once it's released you can remove it and require Qt >= version it ships as real stable API. If you do please be sure to put all Qt code inside a namespace, else distro tooling will believe that it's compiling against private parts of the API. And of course, please do tell upstream to make that API stable, or at very least ship it as private API. Thanks! -- Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer http://perezmeyer.com.ar/ http://perezmeyer.blogspot.com/
