Hi,
A patch for fix of the regression is in 4.19.145 (commit
044be307e550b4532960eadabfb6942de96751f0 "net/mlx5e: Don't support phys
switch id if not in switchdev mode").
Please enable CONFIG_NET_SWITCHDEV once this is merged to the Buster
kernel tree.

I see that this was merged into git. Thanks. What are the chances of
this fix getting included into Debian 10.4 to allow OVS off-loading there?
Thanks,

Thanks
Update:
adding CONFIG_NET_SWITCHDEV adds the following extra config items
(amd64, checked kernels 5.4 and 5.4):
CONFIG_MLX5_ESWITCH=y
CONFIG_MLX5_SW_STEERING=y
CONFIG_NFP_APP_FLOWER=y
CONFIG_NFP_APP_ABM_NIC=y
The following two are added but disabled by default.

When building a deb package, the linux-headers package should also
add arch/$ARCH/mach-*/include Required for arm and probably some
other architectures: avr32, blackfin, ia64, mn10300.

would occour?
So what should I do:
1. Drop that postinst script. Require more work from the installer
2. Keep the script as-is
3. run 'depmod -a' with no '' instead, and possibly further delay
installation?
Please CC me your reply, TIA.
