I actually believe both these are caused by pandoc - I have just reported
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1059146 - (for the
lintian error) - I mention in the bug that it is already reported
upstream here:

https://github.com/jgm/pandoc/issues/6809

- and the other (the warning) is already reported as bug too:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1053777

and I believe this is fixed in a later pandoc (maybe 3.1.7?) than what
is packaged in Debian - please see this bug for the discussion and
commits made to pandoc:

Bug#1057110: RFS: claws-mail/4.2.0-1~bpo12+1 -- Fast, lightweight and user-friendly GTK based email client

2023-11-29 Thread Andreas Rönnquist
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "claws-mail":

(Please notice that I have both bookworm-backports 4.2.0-1~bpo12+1 and
bullseye-backports-sloppy 4.2.0-1~bpo11+1 versions available on
mentors, ready for sponsoring).

The only change except the clean backport is adding a flag to build
litehtml-viewer, which doesn't build by default any longer if libgumbo
is too old (lower than 0.12). (Which it is in both bookworm and
bullseye). From the upstream changelog:

* The LiteHTML viewer plugin will now only be built automatically if
libgumbo 0.12 or newer is available. Building with libgumbo 0.10
must be explicitly requested using --enable-litehtml_viewer-plugin.

Indeed. I am in the progress to fix a new key, waiting for signatures
(I could do more work on this though, but I haven't prioritised this massively).

I would very much appreciate sponsoring! - if you (or anyone else) would
like more to take a look at, I have also uploaded the scite package to
mentors.

(for completion if anyone is interested: old key b2da2888, new key 9ef93bc2).

uscan/watch and savannah

2014-09-30 Thread Andreas Rönnquist
Hi

Does anybody maintain a package which uses Savannah as host for the
upstream, and uses the savannah file area for its file releases?

My problem is that while uscan --report-status reports that an upstream
is available, since it checks the

http://download.savannah.gnu.org/project

folder, but when it is time to download, savannah redirects to the
nearest mirror site and tries to download from there. (In my case
http://nongnu.uib.no/ ) where the file hasn't had the time to
replicate, which causes problems, and the download isn't possible.

What is the best way to come around this problem where uscan
--report-status reports that a release is available, while it hasn't
had time to replicate to the site where download happens from?

Do you people simply use download-mirror.savannah.gnu.org in watch
instead, or is there a better solution?

do you mind link your watch file (and maybe tell us the which package
is this)

This is for my package devilspie2 - watch file at
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/devilspie2.git/tree/debian/watch

Not that the problem is huge, but it would be nice to be able to
upload a new upstream version, get it reported by uscan --report-status,
and then immediately being able to use git-import-orig --uscan.

As it is now, I upload a new -upstream- version, but if I want to
git-import-orig --uscan, I need to wait for the tar-ball to get
replicated to my closest mirror (which takes about 24 hours according
to Savannah).

I can of course download the tarball by hand, and use git-import-orig
on that, but it would be much smoother being able to use --uscan.

- It looks like the answer by Daniel Lintott solves my problem.

Doing some searching on codesearch.d.n [1], I can see there are three
packages that use the download-mirror url [2].

An alternative option, which seems to be slightly more popular is a
noredirect option [3].

So the URL would become:
   http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases-noredirect/project

which then redirects to download-mirror.s.g.o which in my mind seems a
better a approach and would hopefully be kept working should anything
move in the future

That sounds exactly like what I want - I will try it out -

To catch problems like this, you should build the package in a clean

 Hi Andreas,

On Thu, Dec 19, 2013 at 12:00:25PM +0100, Andreas Rönnquist wrote:
I am looking for a sponsor for my package xye

I like Xye, so I thought I'd give your package a look, with the intent
 of sponsoring it eventually.

Thank you, much appreciated!

I've just got a couple of comments:
 * debian/repack is nice but seems like an awful lot of effort to
remove two files; have you noticed the new Files-Excluded header in
   debian/copyright which uscan now supports?

Ah, I hadn't - thanks! Well, I am kind of irritated on that bug I
mentioned in README.source (##635920) which makes it impossible to use
git-import-orig --uscan in combination with a debian/repack script... I
guess using the mentioned Files-Excluded would solve this?

 * The manpage doesn't follow the typical Unix manpage style, although
if there are no command-line options then the text you've written is
good enough. You might get bug reports requesting the manpage to
document how to play but until then...

I'll think I'll wait for those bug reports... ;)

 * You should update debian/copyright to include yourself.

Done.

Incidentally while trying to determine whether xye takes any
command-line parameters, I discovered that specifying any parameter
causes xye to crash! (I'll file a bug...)

Oh! I have managed to include a patch that fixes this problem, but when
doing so I found more related problems - if running with a folder which
doesn't contain any data files it still segfaults (but later). I
will try to put together a patch for this problem too.

(I have pushed my current changes to alioth).

Would you like me to put together a new package on mentors, or do you
simply get the gbp packaging from alioth?

best regards, and many thanks

I haven't actually got round to using it myself yet, so I can't say
for sure... But I get the impression that uscan repacks the original
tarball itself with the same name when removing excluded files, so it
should work transparently with git-import-orig --uscan.

I'll leave it to you to decide what you want to do for this version
of the xye package, since it's too late for the 0.12.2 import anyway,
and it would require rewriting debian/copyright in machine-readable
 format.

Alright, lets put this conversion on hold at least to until before the
next upstream import then.

Would you like me to put together a new package on mentors, or do
you simply get the gbp packaging from alioth?

I'm pulling your packaging from alioth, so no need to update mentors.

BTW I noticed in your email to debian-devel-games that you mentioned
the newer-standards-version lintian warning; this is fixed in the
latest version of lintian, currently available in unstable only.
---8---

Ah, I know - I get the 'newer-standards-version' lintian warning on
the mentors site - seems like they havn't updated the lintian version
there yet. (I have the latest lintian here on my computer, and don't get
the warning here).

Let me know when you reckon you've finished preparing the package,
whether or not you fix the second segfault you mention (I can't
reproduce it, but I may not be testing the right thing).

I get it if I simply run xye /usr/ (or any folder other
than /usr/share/xye/ for that matter)...

I have tried to debug it, but it seems to be a harder nut to crack.

I guess it can wait until another release (another debian release, or
another upstream) - I will of course report it upstream.

I find the package pretty much ready to upload - Would you like me to
replace that UNRELEASED with unstable in the changelog, or do you take
care of that?

  * Add script to repack and make uscan/watch use this

versions - This is a big no-no for the release team during the freeze
(see [1]) which we have had since June [2].

This might lower the chances of getting a DD to sponsor your packages
during the freeze.

uscan and git.gnome.org tags

2012-10-29 Thread Andreas Rönnquist
Hey

Is there any way to make a watch-file look for git tags on
git.gnome.org? I am preparing a package for a QA upload (for after the
freeze of course) for a package that I have a hard time finding a way to
make a watch file for the releases - it uses a wordpress blog as
homepage, where it has put the latest release, where I have no luck
making uscan get it, and uses gnome git for version handling.

I have found there is a few redirectors for various hosting pages
like sourceforge and similar - is there something for git.gnome.org and
the tags from there?

Re: uscan and git.gnome.org tags

2012-10-29 Thread Andreas Rönnquist
Hi -
(No need to CC me, I am subscribed to the list.)

I am working on the devilspie package - which has a release mentioned
and linked in the last entry on Ross Burton's blog -
http://www.burtonini.com/

I do however have problems getting a watch-file reading the folder
where the tar.xz is.

It does however have the git repository at
http://git.gnome.org/browse/devilspie/ where the source (and the
tags) can be found.

So, either getting the watchfile to work through the
http://www.burtonini.com/computing/
folder, or through the git tags - I have had no luck with neither
method, and help would be much appreciated.

best

libircclient packaging (Chances to get it into Wheezy)?

2012-07-04 Thread Andreas Rönnquist
Hey

I have done some work on the recently orphaned libircclient package,
(O/ITA: at [1]), updated it to the latest release, updated packaging to
current standards, and amongst other things made it Multiarch aware, and
enabled hardening in the build. (It hadn't been updated since 2009
previously, so there were quite some stuff to do). See [2] for details
on my changes.

This involves a minor transition (If I've got it right, two packages
are reverse dependencies of libircclient.)

I have tried it out with megaglest [3], which builds and runs fine and I
am testing the other reverse dependency pokerth [4] right now (Those
builds are quite massive...)

But I am not a DD and need a sponsor to get it uploaded.

Would anybody be interested in this, and perhaps help out getting a
freeze exception so that we don't have to be stuck with this aged
package for a complete release cycle?

Regarding team maintenance - The two packages that depends on
libircclient are games-team maintained, but I don't know about
libircclient - IRC clients are used in quite a lot of places other than
games, right?

Do you think there is any chance to get this into Wheezy?

(CC'ing my standard sponsor - Are you interested in this, or are you
busy with release-related work, Niels?)

Help would be very much appreciated -

Gettext and $DESTDIR$prefix

2012-01-10 Thread Andreas Rönnquist
Hi!

I am making a package (which I am upstream of) translatable using
gettext - It is using a simple Makefile as build system, no autotools.

Is there a way to come around the necessity to get LOCALEDIR (Which
is basically ${DESTDIR}{$prefix}/share/locale) from the Makefile to
the C source?

In other words - is there any simpler way to decide whether the
package should load translations from /usr/... or /usr/local/... ?

I am using bindtextdomain(PACKAGE,LOCALEDIR) where both PACKAGE and
LOCALEDIR is defined in the makefile and sent to the source simply in
this way:

-DLOCALEDIR=\$(LOCALEDIR)\

Is this an acceptable way of doing it, or am I missing some gettext
magic that I should be using instead? - This feels a bit hackish...

Complete Makefile at
https://raw.github.com/gusnan/devilspie2/master/Makefile

Also - I could use hints on where to get gettext support - I cannot
find any mailinglist, nor IRC-channel that is really suitable for this
kind of question...

Help and suggestions would be much appreciated
/Andreas

RFS: devilspie2

2011-10-16 Thread Andreas Rönnquist
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package devilspie2.

 * Package name: devilspie2
   Version : 0.10-1
Upstream Author : Andreas Rönnquist gus...@gusnan.se
 * URL : http://www.gusnan.se/devilspie2/
 * License : GPL3
   Section : gnome

It builds those binary packages:

devilspie2 - LUA-based window matching utility

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/devilspie2

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/d/devilspie2/devilspie2_0.10-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Devilspie2 is a continuation of the original Devilspie by Ross Burton,
but with the major difference that the symbolic expressions of the
original and their iterpreter are replaced by much simpler and easier
maintainable LUA code.

It is written in C, with a simple makefile as build system (My first try
at a package using a Makefile, I have used cmake in the past) - and
alsousing CDBS.

I have made it possible upstream to compile against either GTK2 or 3
(defaulting to 3), and in the debian packaging updated the dependencies
to require the GTK3 packages.

Kind regards,

Andreas Rönnquist

Both of your descriptions focus on explaining how devilspie2 does

windows, but the use - acting on them - is only implied. Maybe your long

to the end of the description.

I'm not a DD but I did a quick check to your package, and here are some
 comments on your debian/copyright:

I think you should use more verbosity here, as you are listing © 2006
Roy Wood and © 2010 Andreas Ronnquist, but there are files with
copyright years 2008 and 2009. In fact there are four distinct copyright
 boilerplates:

   * Copyright 2006 Roy Wood, 2008 Andreas Ronnquist
   * Copyright 2006 Roy Wood, 2009 Andreas Ronnquist
   * Copyright 2009 Andreas Ronnquist
   * Copyright 2008,2009,2010 Andreas Ronnquist

Also you should link to /usr/share/common-licenses/GPL-3 instead
of /usr/share/common-licenses/GPL, because the package is GPL3+.

And check for a '(C)' without the full word 'Copyright' at the Debian
packaging copyright boilerplate, '(C)' is not considered as a valid way
 to express the copyright ownership.

Thank you Ruben!

All these should be fixed in my latest upload.
Also, I discovered and fixed a faulty link the debian/copyright.

Many thanks!

Sorry about that - won't happen again.

Does your package embed a copy of any scite/scintilla code? If so,

There seems to be a _very_ simple fix to #434272 - I have attached a
