I Just run *sbuild *(as indicated on https://wiki.debian.org/sbuild) from
the new version package folder.
On ~/.sbuldrc I make this change:

$build_arch_all = 1;$distribution = 'unstable';

And I use lintian:

$run_lintian = 1;$lintian_opts = ['-i', '-I'];

It's .sbuildrc, not .sbuldrc...

One additional comment, your changelog entries lack explicitness.

"Update" means nothing if you don't provide further details.

What did you update in d/control and d/copyright? What for?

More explicit change logs will facilitate the work of future sponsors.

You should also ensure the packaging is up-to-date with current
standards (4.1.3).

The Upgrading-Checklist [1] can help you figure out what has changed
since version 3.9.8.

You should try your current packaging on a pbuilder, sbuild or chroot
targetting unstable and run a recent version of Lintian on it to check
for errors and warnings.

1. Please add a Breaks to shotwell instead of just a Replaces. It
wouldn't hurt to bump the version too like this:

Replaces: shotwell-common (<< 0.26.3-1)

I think you can remove this line though
Breaks: shotwell (<< 0.26.2-1)

https://wiki.debian.org/RpathIssue I had the impression that the use
of RPATH is OK here since only the python3 executable would be loading
the shared object. Am I correct?

It will import is as a module, no? You should not need rpath for public
extension modules. Look for usage of `runtime_library_dirs` in the
definition of the extension module within setup.py.

I've added a patch to give an empty argument to
runtime_library_dirs. The lintian warning went away, and the Python
extension still works.

Thank you.

These are very simple example programs only used together with the
documentation and their own source code. As such it feels a bit
strange for them to have manpages. I could also remove that binary
package, if you think that is better.

Ask yourself whether these are worth shipping. I suspect the examples
are more useful in source code form than binary.

I've changed the -examples package to just ship sources.

I believe that's wise.

By the way: I'm currently letting dh have its way with whether or not
it compresses the sources, which gives an inconsistent result. Should
I do something about this?

Yes, I'd advise to override dh_compress to exclude the examples from
compression.

This was actually done on purpose. The examples are really meant to be
used together with the documentation, and as such I don't think the
warning applies here. Please let me know if I'm wrong.

Did you declare libgudhi-examples as a library package instead of misc
or doc by any chance (see Section field in d/control)? Then, the warning
would be accurate. Instead, ship the examples in source code form and
make the package Section: misc.

No problem. Glad to see your packaging work is progressing.

That's the classic issue with the copy of jquery generated by doxygen.
The Debian maintainer for src:doxygen recommends to not act on it, and I
was told before to leave the warning as is instead of using an override.

Are you sure your cowbuilder setup is ok? This is usually not a good sign:

Frederic gave a hint to bug #873921.

Now that the situation with pandas / statsmodels is resolved, the
package builds fine [1].

I will. For now, upstream is interested in checking whether the

we could expect another rc2 after that.

2017-09-16 Thread Ghislain Vaillant
The copyright you quoted applies to the code from the original
implementation in MATLAB.

This code is a complete rewrite in Python, so the original copyright should
not apply. Not sure why this file is provided since the two code bases are
different.

Anyway I am open to hear from a second opinion from d-legal.

And why should they? CC0 or Unlicense have clear terms. Problems arise when

...so you need python3-pytest-runner.

I just ran a test build on debomatic, and it is now riddled with
"undefined symbol: PyFPE_jbuf" errors which were not there before.

I believe this is symptomatic of a larger issue within the archive,
since other Python packages I maintain have had a similar error raised
by their respective autopkgtests recently. *sigh*

Kind regards

Andreas.

PS: What about your DM application?

Still pending. Priority is low at the moment due to work.

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "pynmea2"

* Package name: pynmea2
Version: 1.8.0-4
Upstream Author: Tom Flanagan
* URL: https://github.com/Knio/pynmea2
* License: MIT
Section: python

Since this is your very first submission of the package to the archive,
the version should be 1.8.0-1.

It builds those binary packages:

python-pynmea2 - pynmea2 is a Python library for the NMEA 0183 protocol
python3-pynmea2 - pynmea2 is a Python3 library for the NMEA 0183 protocol

Please consider not packaging the Python 2 package unless there is a
good reason for it. You should be getting a Lintian warning for it.

Changes since the last upload:

* Fixed lintian errors
* duplicate-short-description,
* vcs-field-uses-insecure-uri,
* capitalization-error-in-description-synopsis
* ancient-standards-version
* Fixed Vcs urls

The content of the changelog should be just one entry with:

  * Initial release (#ITP_BUG_NUMBER)

I have been contributing to Debian long-enough to get to know the RFS
how-to. Thanks for the reminder anyway.

What is still missing in your report, is the link to the published
package itself you want to be sponsored.

You mean the tip of the packaging repository tagged with the Debian
version matching the title of the RFS?

It should lead essentially to the `.dsc` file (m.d.n lists them
automatically if you upload there). Mentioning "it can be build with
gdb" is not enough and cloning Git repository in order to simply build
a package is a nuisance. Both put unnecessary restrictions on the
sponsorship process.

Funny you should say that, this advice to provide the link to the
packaging repository was given to me by past sponsors. I have got months
of past RFS processed that way.

In fact, you'd probably have to use the packaging repository to verify
that the uploaded .dsc matches the tip of the packaging repository. So,
one might as well just let the sponsor generate the .dsc himself, which
is just one `gbp buildpackage -d -S` away.

I don't understand what needs to be fixed. Sphinx changed the way they
generate the documentation, so what?

Unless you can point me to what needs to be solved, and how, I don't
see what else can be done besides uploading the package as is.

Should there be a problem, then it should probably be fixed in Sphinx.
This package, as many others I maintain, uses a fairly standard Sphinx
configuration.

This has to do with the change of behavior between Sphinx 1.4.x (Stretch)
and 1.5.x (Buster).

Same thing has happened with other packages uploaded recently, such as
python-latexcodec.

Re: Bug#864944: RFS: zimg/2.5.1-1 [ITP]

2017-06-18 Thread Ghislain Vaillant
Yes, drop z.lib in favor or zimg.

Besides, users would typically discover the library via pkg-config with
the `zimg` keyword or use it with the link flag -lzimg. Based on that,
it sounds to me that the canonical name for the library should be
(lib)zimg, not z.lib.

Naming is hard.
