I tried kde 3.5.5-1 but found konsole flickered/flashed when in focus
and was unusable. I then tried downgrading konsole and also xterm but
all flickered/flashed when under KDE 3.5.5-1 and were unusable.

After trying several combinations, I found that if I held kwin at
4:3.5.4-2+b1 and upgraded other kde packages to the version 4:3.5.5-1
present in unstable (holding kdebase at 4:3.5.4-2 but upgrading all the
packages required by kdebase except kwin to 4:3.5.5-1), the flashing
problem is gone.

what the other poster reported.

Hi, just installed kalzium and had a look at it.
Given that the isotope abundances and decay types of unstable isotopes

The apparent bug turned out to be a change of the default klipper
behaviour to Synchronise contents of the clipboard and the selection.
Setting Separate clipboard and selection fixed the problem I was having.
Maybe the klipper developers should be asked about this?
Arthur.
