Hi!
I assume you are running into PackageKit crash
https://github.com/hughsie/PackageKit/issues/177 can you please
confirm that by either using the pkmon tool to monitor PK activity or
by running the packagekit daemon manually? (sudo
/usr/lib/packagekit/packagekitd --verbose)
Cheers,

Discover is for end-users with no technical knowledge. Showing extra
dialog boxes with crazy text won't help and just be visual clitter,
since people will press "Yes" anyway. Also, Discover isn't really to
blame for the underlying problem, which is a busted archive, something
that never happens in

Hi!
Are you using Plymouth? If so, I might have resolved this issue
already (not yet uploaded to the archive).
Please try applying this patch to the /lib/systemd/system/sddm.service file:
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-kde/kde-std/sddm.git/commit/?id=b50b826a4809b85270d5adc026b6d28fcdbb47c5

Hi!
Thank you for the patch! I resolved the issue a bit differently,
making use of the SDDM and Plymouth systemd service file features a
bit more, and also fixing a few other potential issues in the same
run.
Could you please check if the new revision of the package fixes this
issue for you? (shoul

Hi!
Can you please test if this issue still exists with sddm/0.12.0-1 ?
It's likely fixed in the newer upstream release.
Can you also check that /etc/sddm/Xsession is marked as executable?
Cheers,
Matthias

Thank you for the feedback :-)
I wished I had seen this bug earlier..
Hi!
I would also be interested in this meeting, especially in the
PackageKit side. I believe PK is the right way to go, but only if the
current APTcc backend gets a few improvements and if we identify the
(Debian-specific) stuff PK is probably missing.
On KDE's side, I hope I can find a sponsor for
