Grr... why upload during a transition

Yes, arch:all cruft often needs manual cleanup. Please file an
appropriate bug against ftp.debian.org.

Ack.

I'll check this myself.

Now, I see the following reasons:
- hivex is too young
- lwt is blocked because arch:all packages are not built... but there
are no longer arch:all packages (I don't know what can be done here, I
assumed cruft packages were automatically removed at some point)
- llvm-toolchain-8 FTBFS on mips* (I've reported #944844)
- llvm-toolchain-9 is waiting for piuparts

I'm failing to (quickly) see why ocaml doesn't want to migrate. Does
anybody already have some foo laying around to see what the problem is?
I'm only seeing ocaml in the autohinter section, while I expected in the
regular section.

Done (pxp and meta-ocaml on the next real britney run).

Let's see where we are when all ages are fine.

Yes. You can remove all red packages in [1] + meta-ocaml (which depends
on pxp). Note that lwt, which is orange (because of cruft liblwt-ssl-*),
should not be removed.

Yes. I've fixed some of those and I've reported #944709.

I am not too familiar with the ocaml way of working, but does everything
needs to be rebuild before it can migrate? If so we can remove those
packages once the llvm-toolchain-8 issue is fixed.

Thanks for the update. Are you aware of the other migration blockers?

Here is a status update after 8 days.

Most of the packages have been updated or rebuilt. For the few
exceptions, bugs have been filed and all of the concerned packages
(except llvm-toolchain-8) can be removed from testing.

So the main blocker now is llvm-toolchain-8 with #943920.

Maybe it is because it is reachable via IPv6 only?

Bug#941907: transition: ocaml

2019-10-07 Thread Stéphane Glondu
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: transition

Dear Release Team,

I think it's time to upgrade OCaml to 4.08.1.

It has been uploaded to experimental, and builds fine on all release
architectures. [1]

Most of reverse-dependencies recompile fine with no changes (on
amd64). [2]

Bug reports have been (or will be) reported for the few packages that
need action. [3]

[1] https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=ocaml=experimental
[2] https://ocaml.debian.net/transitions/ocaml-4.08.0/
[3]
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=ocaml-4.08-transition;users=debian-ocaml-ma...@lists.debian.org

I will take care of the necessary binNMUs.

Ben file:

title = "ocaml";
is_affected = .depends ~ "ocaml(-base)?(-nox)?-4.05.0" | .depends ~
"ocaml(-base)?(-nox)?-4.08.1";
is_good = .depends ~ "ocaml(-base)?(-nox)?-4.08.1";
is_bad = .depends ~ "ocaml(-base)?(-nox)?-4.05.0";
