If you really like plain vi features, vim has a compatibility mode:
:set compatible
to set all options at values that are (approximately) equivalent to
vi's features.

Hmm, it's been awhile since I used mame, but are you just using the single game
roms? It seems I remember that all neogeo games depended on a particular
neogeo rom. Check out http://www.mame.dk/ , as it lists all the roms you need
to play a particular game.

lot of errors, as long as the installation program starts.
As an alternative you can try to boot from your cdrom.
if your bios does not support that, start up with a ordinary win98 rescue
disk so you have you cdrom
