lenny kernel memory leak?

2009-12-14 Thread Mikko Rapeli
I have an old home gateway with 32 MB of ram running email, apache 1.3 with some static files and an rt2500 based ad-hoc mode WLAN AP with dnsmasq. Since upgrade from etch to lenny, I've seen a number of OOM situations and slow downs after a few days of uptime. Is there some perhaps known memory

pvcreate sata terribly slow on sid?

2009-08-18 Thread Mikko Rapeli
Hello, I'm running latest sid with 2.6.30 kernel and pvcreating a new disk into use, but that seems to take forever and doesn't create heavy IO on the disk. Creating normal ext3 partitions with bad block scan succeeded and created led blinking IO as I expected. # top PID USER PR NI

Re: kernel rebuilds with kernel-package?

I installed kernel-package 12.014 on a lenny host and indeed rebuilding without clean in between works. Though a lot of file copying seems to happen in every build, but that's not too much. Thanks Manoj! -Mikko -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject

kernel rebuilds with kernel-package?

2009-06-24 Thread Mikko Rapeli
Hello debian-users I have been pondering this for years and haven't found an answer: How does one re-compile a custom kernel after fixing a bug or adding patch with kernel-package _without_ rebuilding the whole kernel? I want to test new kernels every now and then and usually the first couple of

etch/lenny and iPod Classic 80g?

2008-08-08 Thread Mikko Rapeli
Has anyone managed to use an iPod Classic 80 gig version with etch? My friend bought one and uses etch. Some searching shows that gtkpod and libgpod3 from backports.org would suffice, but there's no way to get amarok to work with the backported libgpod3 (without re-building that is). Also,

krdc remote desktop and keyboard input problems

2008-02-22 Thread Mikko Rapeli
I've used krdc through ssh tunnel on Debian etch hosts a few times, at moment for viewing kino video exports at home, but the keyboard input is messed up every once in a while. For example I can't type a capitalized letters u, r, w, q, f, g, h, j, v or c to a remote xterm with shift or caps lock.
