And I can see the Packages file with no problems (even without the gpg
key, just plain firefox)... I guess you should try apt-get clean, and
if that doesn't work, maybe there's something corrupted... If apt-get
clean doesn't help you

I have installed debian from CDs. When I run 'apt-file search bash'
I get no (empty) result.
If I run apt-file update all I got is error:
