Just a WAG (WIld A$$ Guess), some BIOS have built in anti-virus againsy
boot sector virus types, check to see if that's on and turn it off it
is. It might be blocking lilo/grub from writing to the bootsector
thinking it's a virus.

listed in fstab as:
/dev/fd0/floppy autouser,noauto00
at the shell prompt, mount displays:
/dev/fd0 on /floppy type msdos (rw)

to soecify hosts you are allowing to relay w/ the host_accept_relay
setting in exim.conf? this will allow you not to be an open relay
eventhough you have a dynamic IP address.
