Great you found the actual solution. I've always worked exclusively with
netinstall, so a CD drive did never enter my parameter space. Sorry I've

It would be wise to make a boost or rescue disk (floppy or CD) before
you do that (unless you know you

What probably happened to martin is that his letters were converted to
individual vector objects (Bézier curves), using many points instead of
one byte for each character. pstoedit is a nice tool, but I didn't check
whether it was fit for text documents (or ho
nd then dpkg
(force) remove what you don't want in it.

There's no problem with packaging code that's not compiled. You will
have a binary-arch target which is empty and a binary-indep which is
not. The Architecture: field in the control file should be set to "all".
I would believe -mentors is a better place to boot you up with
pack
hen make sure it is checked regularly. I
suppose you don't want to loose your data, so do think of some
backup/redundancy scheme (software RAID with two cheap drives,
perhaps?). I can't help you much with that, but I believe that's a
fairly important aspect you might be overlooking.

the drive ? hdparm is only for IDE drives, and I found nothing in hwtools...

desktop one, not a laptop, but it can do it, I believe ?
