Staroffice3.1 crashes X session.

I'm trying to install Staroffice3.1 from the debian package. Everything worked fine during installation but when I try to launch setup or anything like scalc, a bitmap appears and then the Xsession crashes. As explained in Staroffice installation guide, I checked permission on Xp3 directory

I recently was able to download StarOffice and get it untarred, etc.. Now, I need to upgrade libc5 to libc5.4.4 or greater. In the Debian packages, I noticed there was no 5.4.4. So here's the question: If anyone else has installed StarOffice, how did you go about the libc upgrade? Where did you

install program and selecting the default 'user install' option in the user's home directory. That way, all the files are in /usr/local/StarOffice3.1 and the individual's home directory. I see no need for a Debian package for this piece of semi-commercial software, but others may disagree. Thanks

Hello everybody, I know this is not the right place to ask, but I'm sure, among the DEBIAN users there are some, which do use StarOffice's suite, like me. May somebody kind enlighten my, why do my scalc3, swrite3, smath3 etc. constantly segfault when run from the shell of a normal user? If I
