I've got the G450 also. I'm running dual-head. I think I read
somewhere that DRI doesn't work under dual-head. Is this true?

Hello James,
The answer was in there:-)
First of all though, I switched to the 2.4.1 kernel, re-compiled, and it
made no difference - I still got an error about mga_hal missing.
I had a look at matrox.com and found the new drivers that one of the
other posters had mentioned, and on the same

Sad, as 32bpp is fine with X3.3.6 utah_glx. At some point I'll try a
lower res in 24/32 and if that works I'll consider getting a 32MB

Hello Brian,
Thanks for replying.
Yes, towards the end of the log I get:

Hello Damon,
Thanks for replying. I tried a driver from Matrox and it gave me the
same results. It was about twice the size of the mga_drv.o generated
from the kernel source, so it must be different somehow. I remember
having to adjust my monitor quite a bit, but still no h/w acceleration.
Hello James,
Something about the tone of your reply makes me think I've missed
something obvious:-)
Certainly, please do tell me what you did/where I've gone wrong.
TIA,
