Is there some configuration to set to tell X that the chip can
handle 230MHz?
I just upgraded from XFree36 3.3.6 (package xserver-svga) and a
Diamond Viper 330 / vNidia RIVA TNT2. That X server allowed at least
202 MHz on that card without any special
On Sarge, I just installed package xserver-xfree86 and in the
configuration specify to use the xserver-xfree86 server.
However, then run startx, I still get the old xserver-xvga
server (XF86_SVGA).
I even re-did the configuration (using dpkg-recongfigure).
What else do I need to do to get

Si primero has editado el fichero, el dpkg-reconfigure ya no surte
efecto.
Lee el encabezado de ese mismo fichero, en los primeros comentarios pone
lo que debes hacer, para que dpkg-reconfigure vuelva a funcionar.

Look in /var/log/XFree86.0.log (probably) for lines marked with an (EE).
Report those lines here.
Also, if your machine has an integrated video system, check the BIOS to

Depending upon the graphic card and the tv encoder chip, it's quite
possible. See the documentation in /usr/share/doc/nvtv/ for the
supported list.
If your card and chip is supported, no XFree86/Xorg configuration is
needed, only adjustments in the nvtv program.

I have installed Debian on my PC here. It runs a 1200MHz Athlon CPU and has
one 20GB disk on it with Fedora Core 5 on it and now after deleted Windows a
second disk (primary) which is 40GB in size has now got the Desktop Debian
installation on it.

to reconfigure the x-server, if you're having problems like specifying
the wrong driver issue the following
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
that will take you through the setup of the xserver and write a new
config file for you.
