En la parte de los patrones de guionado (hyphenation) descomenta la
línea referida al castellano.
Guarda el archivo y sal de texconfig.

Has probado a modificar el Xmodmap? No te funciona?
Como te comentan aquí la clave en la mayoría de los programas está en
fijar los recursos del sistema para definir el tamaño.
Lo que pasa es que hacerlo para cada programa es un rollazo.

But when xdm starts on vt7, everything is fine, then I can login
as normal, but then after a while, it swiches to vt8.
