Actualiza tu versión de sort. En cuanto a mis locales:

Otra vez fax

 Re-buenas :^).

No he tenido problemas y creo que podré
 recibir aunque aún no he hecho pruebas.

2000-04-04 Thread Angel Vicente Perez

No pasa nada.
salió bien y me pude conectar a Internet.

 # pon proveedor

 ¿lo has hecho asi?

RE: Telnet automatizado

2000-04-04 Thread Antonio AngelSanz Arrospide
Quizás no me haya explicado bien.

portada/portada.tex
previos/agradecimientos.tex
previos/preambulo.tex
capitulos/capitulo1_Introduccioc/capitulo1_Introduccion.tex
capitulos/capitulo2_Estudiosprevios/capitulo2_Estudios_previos.tex
...
apendices/apendice1_Graficas_experimentales.tex
...
bibliografia/bibliografia.bib

%
% tesis.tex: Une capítulos de la tesis y les da formato
%

% CABECERA: Definiciones relativas al formato y paquetes usados %%
\documentclass[12pt,spanish,oneside,a4paper]{report}
\usepackage{ae}
\usepackage[spanish]{babel}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc}
% Otros paqutes y definiciones adicionales aqui:
%%%

% ESTRUCTURA: Unión de los capítulos %%
\begin{document}
\sloppy

\include{portada/portada}
\include{detalle/detalle}

\tableofcontents
\listoftables
\listoffigures

\include{portada/portada}
\include{previos/agradecimientos}
\include{previos/preambulo}
\include{capitulos/capitulo1_Introduccioc/capitulo1_Introduccion}
\include{capitulos/capitulo2_Estudiosprevios/capitulo2_Estudios_previos}
% Otros capítulos aqui:

\appendix
\include{apendices/apendice1_Graficas_experimentales}
% Otros apéndices aqui:

\addcontentsline{toc}{chapter}{{}Referencias}
\bibliography{bibliografia/bibliografia}

\end{document}
%%%

$ latex tesis
$ bibtex tesis
$ latex tesis
$ latex tesis
$ dvips -o tesis.ps tesis.dvi

espero :D

Saludos.

What package do I need to install to get ps ?

 /hda3 115 meg. swap.

 i dont have partition magic but i would like to know if it is possible to
 install debian (with booting from hard drive) and then install red hat linux
 on the second partition and then set it up so i can choose which i want to
 use.

Hi,

I expect that a Pentium 100 would come with a BIOS that can only boot
within the first 512 Mb of disk. If so, you would have to do a bunch of
fiddling to get it to work as shown above, because each kernel would
have to be below that 512 mb barrier. I always make a small /boot
partition of about 10mb at the head of the disk. In your case make two,
their small . . .  and I would make a shared /home (right now I am using
88mb, so 500mb should be enough for most people, but this point is
highly debated).

/hda1 10mb  Debian   /boot
/hda2 10mb  Redhat   /boot (put as /rhboot in Debian's fstab)
/hdax 500mb joint/home
/hdax 2xRAM jointswap
/hdax 2 GB  Debian   /root
/hdax remainder Redhat   /root

The important point I wanted to make was the 2 small partitions at the
front. The rest is arbitrary. The advantage to the layout I have shown
is that if you change your mind about distributions, you keep the first
4 partitions no matter what, and the only thing you would be wasting is
a 10mb chunk.

To configure LILO in a case like this, I think I would pick one
distribution as the master, probably Debian. Keep only one lilo.conf
and execute lilo from there.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Any possibility of reading MS Works files in Linux?

Hello;

  I receive wps (Microsoft Works) files regularly... And they are
  important files. The person who sends them to me is not really a
  computer person, and I've already tried to ask for the files in some
  other format, but this is not an option, as far as I can
  see. I've tried StarOffice and Corel WordPerfect, but they won't
  read these files.

  So... Is there any chance that I'll be able to read those files
  without having to ask for someone else convert them into .doc ot
  .txt?

Thank you a lot,
J.

 I think the problem is the latest kpkg. I was getting the same
 unbootable kernel-image, only when installed the read was:
 Kernel panic.  No init.

 Try a non-debian compilation of your kernel. That appears to work.
 I'm sticking to a kernel-image made BEFORE the latest kpkg until
 the bug is worked out.

 Eric Wolven

I buried myself in the .postinstall script of the generated kernel-image
package. It seems that relevant parts are not reached at at. Maybe I'm
just stupid, perhaps I should file a bug?

Anyway, I recreated the scripts bootdisk creation steps, which are:

# superformat /dev/fd0
# dd if=/boot/vmlinuz of=/dev/fd0
#

Don't ask me why it works, but it does...

  I'm currently set up such that I can ssh into my machine at work from

However,
  I'm on a dialup line (no DSL yet...) and use IP masquerading, which
appears
  to prevent X clients on my work box from connecting to the X server here
at

 If you log in via ssh, then you should be able to start x-applications
 out-of-the-box. ssh creates a proxy x-server and thus forwards any
 x-connection through the encrypted connection opened by the masqueraded
 host.
 if it does not work, then check, if ForwardX11 yes is in your
 ~/.ssh/config. if it is, then check, how $DISPLAY is set on the remote
 machine after ssh-login. it should be something like remotemachine:10.0
 - if it is not, then ssh does not forward the x-connections ... don't ask
 me, why.

The system should be able to find the cdrom drive if it is ATAPI

some problems. It will ask where your CD-ROM drive is and you will have
to pick the one that is the cdrom (it goes by controller, i.e. controller

I have a creative labs soundblaster 32 pnp. It currently uses irq 11,
unfortunatly, so is my video card. I have noticed since i compiled this
kernel (2.2.14) using slink, that while rvplayer plays and I move my mouse
it makes noise, same with my mp3 player etc. Is there a way to easily move
the irq for the sb to another irq?? If so, how do I go about it. I realize that
I will need to recompile the kernel to reflect new irq.

TIA

better to try using the bios to change the IRQ, if that doesn't work --

if the soundblaster is PCI (i cant remember what a SB32 is..) try moving
the slot, if its ISA the default for it should be IRQ5(but your
system appears to be different :) ). if your video
card is PCI try changing the slot too. if the soundblaster is ISA use
isapnp to reconfigure it, you should not need a kernel recompile, unless
your drivers are statically compiled into the kernel as opposed to
modules.

It probably did something that uses NIS, i.e. getpwnam() or getpwuid()

and what I can do about it?

Usually it is a very good idea to list the NIS servers directly
in /etc/yp.conf instead of relying on broadcasts (the default if
/etc/yp.conf is empty), it makes the NIS client stuff a bit more
reliable. /etc/init.d/nis stop and start after that.

 It's a somewhat bizarre set of key sequences, but in command mode (this
 is all vim-specific, by the way, and will probably work in other vi
 clones):

   gqip - rewraps current paragraph
   gq}  - rewraps next paragraph

 Since . repeats the last action, you can normally do gq}... etc. until
 all your text is wrapped.

 In fact, 'gq' followed by any movement command will rewrap the text from
 the current position of the cursor to the line where the cursor ends up
 after the movement command, so, for instance, gq2down-arrow will
 rewrap this and the next two lines.

 If you want more advanced formatting, you could use a shell escape with
 /usr/bin/fmt or /usr/bin/par.

 By the way, I normally tend to use textwidth rather than wrapmargin, as
 it's usually more important to me to have a maximum number of characters
 in a line than for the line to end at least some number of characters
 from the right window border (this is important for mail and news, for
 example), but your mileage may vary.

 Finally, if you have a reasonably recent version of vim (5.4 or later),
 you might want to look into autocommands in conjunction with filetypes.
 These can give you the ability to define defaults for various types of
 files with a great deal of flexibility. For example, if you put the
 following lines in your ~/.vimrc:

   syntax on
   au!
   au FileType mail  set textwidth=72

 ... you'll find that all files are syntax-highlighted by default where
 possible and all mail and news articles you edit will be wrapped to 72
 characters by default.

How do I get out of the graphical mode and return to the original text

Minor errors after kernel-upgrade

2000-04-04 Thread Vitux
Hi Debians
Running Slink, I recently upgraded my kernel to 2.2.14 to
gain a little speed and get rid of SCSI support. I also
enabled sound.
The box is running smooth, but I get a few errors while
booting.
1) Some of the very first messages from the kernel are
(according to dmesg):
Klogd 1.3-3#31, log source=/proc/kmsg started
Cannot find map file.
No module symbols loaded.
2) Later, after mounting local filesystems, /dev/hdc/ is
mounted on /home and /dev/hdd1 is on /usr. Then: SIOCADDRT:
Invalid argument.
3) I compiled support for cd-rom into the kernel; now it
says it can't find the cdrom module, but seems to
acknowledge the drive fine. Do I need to edit some .conf so
that it doesn't attempt to load the module?

Are these errors critical?
Any suggestions on what to do about it?
(The box is rock-stable, but it annoys me anyway, and maybe
I could learn something here...)
Best Regards
Vitux

Re: boot from rescue floppy, install from cd?

2000-04-04 Thread Radim Gelner
In short: you will not to do anything about the CDROM
as far as it is a SCSI or IDE one. If you have a
proprietary card for it (no very likely), you'll have
to insert a proper module for it during the
installation.

Longer, but MUCH better: Read Debian Installation
Manual located on the first CD of the Debian Set in
/doc/install.txt

hello everybody

i have only a aged printer, its a Epson Lq 100 (esc/p2).when i

then 1/3 of the width will disappear

if
#gs -dSAFER -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=epsonc -sOutputFile=\|lpr love_C.ps
then many errors appear, especially when printting the tables

i think the argument -sDEVICE=spsonc is wrong, but what DEVICE

Simple text screen editor

Hello everyone,
   I need to give a couple of users a simple editor that works
within a virtual terminal (not X). These people are not really computer
literate and would have trouble with vi or vim. They would be following
written instructions to edit a couple of config files. Has anyone any
suggestions as to a simple editor I could install such that they can
carry out this task. Ease of use is much more important
than editing power, hence the requirement to not use vi or vim.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Some options are:

* pico - used to be included with pine, I think it's available seperately
 now.
* joe - a mixture of Wordstar- and Emacs-compatible keystrokes...

I'd probably try pico, but that's just personal preference for cases
like this.

Use nano, free and pine-independent. :)

joe is very light and powerful, there are already emacs-oriented,
wordstar-oriented, pico-oriented configurations (jmacs, jstar, jpico) too.

I hacked this yesterday in the evening so I can as well post my config
here. I also contacted the xemacs maintainer about this but no answer
either.

I fixed the home/end problem by adding this in my .emacs file :

;; better xterm support
(defun xterm-setup-hook ()
  (define-key function-key-map \e[1~ [home])
  (define-key function-key-map \e[4~ [end]))
(setq term-setup-hook 'xterm-setup-hook)

We have to do this because the terminal definition in
/usr/lib/xemacs-21.1.8/lisp/term/xterm.elc is apparently wrong - it
defines [find] instead of [home] and [select] instead of [end].

To get the delete key to work as it should, I also have to add :

;; delete key
(setq delete-key-deletes-forward t)

I still have another problem with xemacs running in a text VT. when I
exit, I get a blinking block cursor instead of the usual blinking
underline. I dont know why xemacs changes my cursor size and how to avoid
it - if you happen to know this, please tell me :) This is on a current
potato system.

Help!!! Unable to install!

2000-04-04 Thread Rong Shen
Hi, I bought the Debian/GNU Linux by John Goerzen
and Ossama Othman, published by New Riders, July 1999,
first edition, I think.

I could boot from CDROM and thing proceeded smoothly
until the step after I finished partitioning and
before installing the kernel. It asked me 2 questions:
(1) the path in the CDROM where the Debian archive
was, and (2) the pathe to the resc1440***.bin or
some names like that.

Well, since I have decided to dedicate the whole hard
drive to Debian and I have partitioned my hard drive,
I have no operating system to fall back on and no
Debian to look forward to. How am I suppose to search
the whole CDROM for the right path to the Debian
archive and to the resc1440***.bin file. The little
book that comes with the CD was absolutely no help in
this regard. So I terminated the Debian installation
and re-installed Windows 95 to get on the net to ask
this question.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a whole bunch if you can rescue me from this
predicament.

Can you navigate FileRunner through the keyboard ? I hate those
