Otra vez fax
Re-buenas :^). No he tenido problemas y creo que podré recibir aunque aún no he hecho pruebas. -- Just do it.

No pasa nada.

RE: Telnet automatizado
Quizás no me haya explicado bien. Saludos.

I am using Debian Potato. I installed a base 2.1 system from CD and then did an apt-get dist-upgrade. The ps command is not available. Hi, I expect that a Pentium 100 would come with a BIOS that can only boot within the first 512 Mb of disk. If so, you would have to do a bunch of fiddling to get it to work as shown above, because each kernel would have to be below that 512 mb barrier. I always make a small /boot partition of about 10mb at the head of the disk. In your case make two, their small . . . and I would make a shared /home (right now I am using 88mb, so 500mb should be enough for most people, but this point is highly debated). /hda1 10mb Debian /boot /hda2 10mb Redhat /boot (put as /rhboot in Debian's fstab) /hdax 500mb joint/home /hdax 2xRAM jointswap /hdax 2 GB Debian /root /hdax remainder Redhat /root The important point I wanted to make was the 2 small partitions at the front. The rest is arbitrary. The advantage to the layout I have shown is that if you change your mind about distributions, you keep the first 4 partitions no matter what, and the only thing you would be wasting is a 10mb chunk. To configure LILO in a case like this, I think I would pick one distribution as the master, probably Debian. Keep only one lilo.conf and execute lilo from there. Any possibility of reading MS Works files in Linux?
Hello; I receive wps (Microsoft Works) files regularly... And they are important files. The person who sends them to me is not really a computer person, and I've already tried to ask for the files in some other format, but this is not an option, as far as I can see. I've tried StarOffice and Corel WordPerfect, but they won't read these files. So... better to try using the bios to change the IRQ, if that doesn't work -- if the soundblaster is PCI (i cant remember what a SB32 is..) try moving the slot, if its ISA the default for it should be IRQ5(but your system appears to be different :) ). if your video card is PCI try changing the slot too. if the soundblaster is ISA use isapnp to reconfigure it, you should not need a kernel recompile, unless your drivers are statically compiled into the kernel as opposed to modules. nate On Mon, 3 Apr 2000, Jaye Inabnit ke6sls wrote: ke6sls ke6sls Hello, ke6sls ke6sls I have a creative labs soundblaster 32 pnp. It's a somewhat bizarre set of key sequences, but in command mode (this is all vim-specific, by the way, and will probably work in other vi clones): gqip - rewraps current paragraph gq} - rewraps next paragraph Since . repeats the last action, you can normally do gq}... etc. until all your text is wrapped. In fact, 'gq' followed by any movement command will rewrap the text from the current position of the cursor to the line where the cursor ends up after the movement command, so, for instance, gq2down-arrow will rewrap this and the next two lines. If you want more advanced formatting, you could use a shell escape with /usr/bin/fmt or /usr/bin/par. By the way, I normally tend to use textwidth rather than wrapmargin, as it's usually more important to me to have a maximum number of characters in a line than for the line to end at least some number of characters from the right window border (this is important for mail and news, for example), but your mileage may vary. Finally, if you have a reasonably recent version of vim (5.4 or later), you might want to look into autocommands in conjunction with filetypes. These can give you the ability to define defaults for various types of files with a great deal of flexibility. For example, if you put the following lines in your ~/.vimrc: syntax on au! au FileType mail set textwidth=72 ... you'll find that all files are syntax-highlighted by default where possible and all mail and news articles you edit will be wrapped to 72 characters by default. -- Colin Watson [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Unsubscribe? mail -s unsubscribe [EMAIL PROTECTED] /dev/null

Minor errors after kernel-upgrade
Hi Debians Running Slink, I recently upgraded my kernel to 2.2.14 to gain a little speed and get rid of SCSI support. I also enabled sound. The box is running smooth, but I get a few errors while booting. 1) Some of the very first messages from the kernel are (according to dmesg): Klogd 1.3-3#31, log source=/proc/kmsg started Cannot find map file. No module symbols loaded. 2) Later, after mounting local filesystems, /dev/hdc/ is mounted on /home and /dev/hdd1 is on /usr. Then: SIOCADDRT: Invalid argument. 3) I compiled support for cd-rom into the kernel; now it says it can't find the cdrom module, but seems to acknowledge the drive fine. Do I need to edit some .conf so that it doesn't attempt to load the module? Are these errors critical? Any suggestions on what to do about it? One Question about Wms
this is sort of a trite question, but on the standard workstation package install of potato there is a wm which has as its default theme a huge white debian logo. I handpicked the packages to install this time on my machine but cant seem to figure out which window manager that it was. Can anyone help? Cheers, Ryan
Re: Simple text screen editor
Use pico, it has the same layout as pine and all the keystokes are listed at the bottom of the screen at all times. I you run pico -m it enables mouse support. ~Sam On Tue, 4 Apr 2000, John Gould wrote: Hello everyone, I need to give a couple of users a simple editor that works within a virtual terminal (not X). These people are not really computer literate and would have trouble with vi or vim. They would be following written instructions to edit a couple of config files. Has anyone any suggestions as to a simple editor I could install such that they can carry out this task. Ease of use is much more important than editing power, hence the requirement to not use vi or vim. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
