gcc -I. -I.. -I/usr/include/freetype -I/usr/include/freetype2
-I/usr/include/X11 -I/usr/X11R6/include/X11 -I/usr/local/include -D_REENTRANT
-O2 -fPIC -pipe -DHAVE_LIBPNG -DHAVE_LIBTTF -DHAVE_XPM -DHAVE_LIBJPEG
-DHAVE_JPEG   -c -o gdttf.o ../gdttf.c

../gdttf.c:79: warning: no semicolon at end of struct or union
../gdttf.c:80: warning: data definition has no type or storage class
../gdttf.c:85: parse error before `TT_Glyph'

(i tak dalej jeszcze kilkadziesiąt linijek)

z powyższego wywnioskowałem iż błąd kryje się gdzieś we fragmencie:

/* Line separation as a factor of font height.
No space between if LINESPACE = 1.00
Line separation will be rounded up to next pixel row */
#define LINESPACE 1.05

#ifndef TRUE
#define FALSE 0
#define TRUE !FALSE
#endif

#define MAX(a,b) ((a)(b)?(a):(b))
#define MIN(a,b) ((a)(b)?(a):(b))

typedef struct {
char*fontname;  /* key */
double  ptsize; /* key */
double  angle;  /* key */
double  sin_a, cos_a;
TT_Engine   *engine;/* 64 linijka */
TT_Face face;
TT_Face_Properties  properties;
TT_Instance instance;
TT_CharMap  char_map_Unicode, char_map_Big5,
char_map_Sjis, char_map_Roman;
int have_char_map_Unicode,
have_char_map_Big5, have_char_map_Sjis, have_char_map_Roman;
TT_Matrix   matrix;
TT_Instance_Metrics imetrics;
gdCache_head_t  *glyphCache;
} font_t;

2001-05-17 Thread Ricardo Marcelo Alvarez

apt-get update
apt-get -f dist-upgrade

Meu
| objetivo é coloca-lo em um PIII 660Mhz.
| Agora vem a pergunta: Alguma indicação/sugestão?

Jah tinha feito essa sugestao: Use GNU/Linux. Naum interessa qual
distribuicao... Use sistemas free. (Posso ser meio passional? Use
Debian GNU/Linux.

usuarios do HP-UX.

A versao 1 somente saiu
geometricamente.
detalhes no Unix-FAQ.
arquivo e dispositivos I/O, cujas chamadas ao sistema incluem fork(),
http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Union/3590/pt-cathedral-bazaar.html),
tipo a Microsoft temem (veja tambem
http://linuxtoday.com/news_story.php3?ltsn=2001-05-15-021-20-OS-CY-MS).
Espero naum ter sido muito prolixo.

A resposta completa
estah naquele artigo da linuxtoday acima.

do sistema? Caso vc naum possa consertar (naum tenha o conhecimento

RES: instalacao e configuracao do tinycobol-0.52 no debian 2.2

2001-05-17 Thread andremac

http://download.sourceforge.net/tiny-cobol/tinycobol_0.52-1_i386.deb

dpkg -i tinycobol_0.52.1_i386.deb

Depois
disso só é começar a utiliza-lo esquecendo do tinycobol-0.52-1.tar.gz.
para instalar pacotes via ftp (apt-get install tinycobol).

Nop. UNIX is a traditional mark from ATT. Sun and SCO (Caldera)
compraram a licença de uso do nome.

program not found para algum deles.

% exit

e me envie o arquivo typescript que será gerado. Assim teri condições de
ajudá-lo.

2001-05-17 Thread Gustavo Noronha Silva
Putz!

frufruzinho, tipo menuzinho de Help/About, File/Quit, etc ;) é bom
aprender Gtk! =) e fica lindo no tema Crux ;)

(lá ainda tá aquela meleca do 0.8!), mal posso esperar pra mostrar
pra a minha namorada o presente que fiz pra ela ;)

um abraço!

Limpando o Debian

2001-05-17 Thread Israel Mendes Biscaia Filho
Falae gente!! Beleza??

Uma vez o KoV me

Hi Keneth,

The php3 and php3-mysql packages are for version 3 of php. The
packages I mentioned are for version 4. If you want to use version 3,
and NOT version 4, then you have the correct packages. If you want to
upgrade to php4, install the ones I mentioned.

I'm unfamiliar with the tweaks needed to activate the php3 packages,
as I haven't installed them myself. I know the php4 packages pretty
well, though =)

There are basically 2 things you should have to do, to make sure that
your apache install recognizes your version of php.

The first is to make sure you're loading the php modules. In
httpd.conf, look for a line resembling the following:

LoadModule php4_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so

(this is the php4 module - yours might be libphp3.so or libphp.so)

Make sure it's uncommented.

Next, look for the following section:

# For example, the PHP 3.x module (not part of the Apache
# distribution - see http://www.php.net) will typically use:
#
#AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php3
#AddType application/x-httpd-php3-source .phps
#
# And for PHP 4.x, use:
#
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps

(here I have the php4 entries uncommented, but you can see the php3
ones above it, commented out in my case. In your case you'll probably
want the php3 ones active, and the php4 ones uncommented.)

After making sure everything is correct, stop apache with:

# /etc/init.d/apache stop

Verify that it's indeed stopped (ps aux | grep apache) and restart
it with:

# /etc/init.d/apache start

Now, in your apache docroot (default on Debian seems to be /var/www)
make a file called phpinfo.php3 (or phpinfo.php if you upgrade to
php4) containing the following:

? phpinfo(); ?

Save it, then bring it up in a browser with:

http://localhost/phpinfo.php3

If all goes well, you should see the php information page, which can
tell you all sorts of nifty things about your installation.

If all doesn't go well, let us know what happens.

You're going to compromise your system's security because of some other
site's brain-dead policies?

http://www.linuxmafia.com/pub/linux/security/ssh-clients

...there are clients for any and all platforms, including clients which
can be run from floppy or java VMs.

The other possible hitch is that outbound port 22 traffic is blocked, in
which case you may want to set up an ssh port on 80 or another common
HTTP port (81, 88, 8000, 8080, 8081), or, if an authenticating proxy is
being used, find a way to tunnel IP over port 80.

If that's still not an option, then have her get a modem and dial
directly to your system or a non-fuxnored ISP, or have her negotiate
with her employer, though why she'd need to access an external system
during work hours might be a sticking point.

 How can I fix this problem?

Fix your line wrap. 72 characters please.

I'd recommend apt-get and dpkg over dselect here.

Try:

$ apt-get install --fix-missing

...which may resolve some errors. Then remove the ones you want to get
rid of.

If that doesn't work, try uninstalling specific packages and note which
fail. I'd look at the specific install/uninstall scripts and note which
fail and where. I had a recent package hanging due to a failure code on
an /etc/init.d/script stop message. So I commented it out (the daemon
wasn't running) and got through the bump.

You can also manually remove files associated with a package, then edit
your status file, but I'd consider this to be major surgery and try
all other options several times first.

 fails you'd be stuck with an unbootable system. With a RAID, you can
 failover to the second disk and continue running while you work on
 replacing the failed disk, then resync everything automatically.

This sounds good.
Then what tools can I use to set it up? (Assuming that kernel support
for RAID-1 is done).
BTW, the controller is SCSI, not RAID; I don't think that I'd be able to
hot-swap the disk. This sounds really interesting; failover just like
that...? And then resync...? Wow.

But the above fail means the disk is no longer usable right? What
about the /dev/sdx thing? If the first one fail, would the second
still be /dev/sdb? My concern is what's in /etc/fstab. Besides, that
failover sounds like going to work for data disks. I'm talking about
system disks here.

What I have done is to create a single partition on the second disk (my
swap is on a file), copy all the / files into it (using cp -avf), and
then create a new entry in the Grub's menu.lst (which resides on the
first disk); hoping that there would be no (hardware) disk failure. I
think this would cover me on events like filesystem failures. I use
ReiserFS, BTW. It's _way_ fast, but even in 2.4.x it's not considered as
stable. The machine has been up for about 7 days; the last reboot was
due to out of swapspace, I believe. Or some holes on the swap partition
(I have put it on a file, recently).

Another thing, is there any way to chroot apt-get? I'd like to install
new packages, on the second disk, but using /mnt as the root directory.

As I understand it, LBA is for IDE disks; so there would be no LBA

I've been running on potato (current stable, right?); well, for the
machine that directly connected to the Internet. That creates a lot of
problem. My desktop always use unstable. But I don't think that it'd be
wise to put an unstable machine on the Internet. So that I end up with
different releases. Problem is, sometimes Gnome apps wouldn't be run
remotely (crashed, to be exact; due to the differences in the libs).

Make sure to keep up with security.debian.org on the stable box...

 DEBIAN_SNORT_HOME_NET=192.168.1.x/32

 Mine shows the routable interface's IP here: is this a munge or your NAT?

The machine runs NAT.
Actually, I want to monitor both NICs.

To get the outside interface, you need to tell it your ISP-assigned IP.
Probably it'd be a good idea to put in a CIDR including all of your
broadcast as well (the number after the slash: I use /24).

 DEBIAN_SNORT_OPTIONS= -i eth0

 is eth0 your ISP-connected NIC?

No, internal. eth1 is the one that connected to outside.

Actually, I forgot you can put more than one interface here. Go ahead and
prepend eth1 in there:

DEBIAN_SNORT_OPTIONS= -i eth1 eth0

 DEBIAN_SNORT_STATS_RCPT=root
   ^
 Change this just on principle: using root to check system email is just
 another thing you can do as a user and not have to be logged in as root so
 much...

Okay.

BTW, the stable and unstable release names are pretty misleading
(misinterpreting?), right? I believe that those who happen to read
messages on Debian lists (eg: on the archives) would think that there'd
be Debian systems that are bound to crash daily. I think changing
unstable to development would be nicer in the eye.

Bring it up on -policy or -devel... What can they do, say no and flame

 I am running Sid with XFree86 4.0.3-3 on Linux 2.4.4. My
 predicament, you see, is that my X server seems to hang the machine
 whenever it fancies. I have maximum uptimes of about 15 to 20 minutes
 of usage. If I don't touch my X server, it's fine. If I don't use
 my X server, it's fine. I've tried MemTest86, but that passed with
 flying colours. Any suggestions for log files to look at, or diagnostics
 to run?

Sounds like it could be a video driver problem. There are a couple things
you can try:

1. In the Device section for your video card in your XF86Config-4 file,
try adding:
Option NoAccel

There may be other driver-specific options for your card. What driver
are you using?

2. In the same section, instead of your current driver, try:
Driver vesa

This probably won't give you great performance, but at least it should
be stable.

Re: Half installed package

2001-05-17 Thread

I've tried to install kde2 via dpkg from a CD found in a linux magazine, but
something went wrong (many dependency problems)and all the packages were
unconfigured. So I've deinstalled everything with dpkg -purge *.deb.

Using dselect I now find that one of the package I wanted to eliminate (slapd)
is still there as I**, that is half installed - remove - remove and
prevents dselect to work. In fact, when I try to install something else via
dselect, it stops with a 100 exitus on slapd package and don't go ahead anymore.

How can I fix this problem?

Re: DHCP + ADSL = HELP

2001-05-17 Thread Kevin Ross
Those config options did look suspicious. I'm running 2.4.3, not 2.4.4, but
my config file only has 1 CONFIG_NETLINK option. Have you tried moving your
.config file somewhere else, and running
$ make mrproper menuconfig
and comparing the new .config to the old one?

Also, did you make sure all of the required packages are up to the versions
specified in Documentation/Changes?

For 2.4.x kernel, you may want to upgrade your distribution to woody or sid.
These distros already have the updated prerequisite packages, while potato
does not.

Subject: DHCP + ADSL = HELP

I'm running Debian 2.2, and I've got Telus (Vancouver, Canada) ADSL at
home. Currently I'm using the 2.2.17 kernel, but I want to upgrade to
2.4.4 so I can rip CDs (my burner hangs the whole system under 2.2.17) and
get a few improvements to IPv6 networking. Everything works fine when I
try booting 2.4.4 -- except for DHCP. I cannot pick up a lease to save my
life.

When I boot 2.2.17, I pick up a lease during booting in a matter of
seconds; both the LAN and the ADSL LEDs on my stock 3Com ADSL modem flash
a few times simultaneously, and then I've got the lease. But when I boot
2.4.4, only the LAN light flashes, with increasing pauses between each
one, before it finally gives up. When I try tcpdump, all I see are the
outgoing BOOTP requests -- nothing back from anyone.

I've compiled 2.4.4 with CONFIG_FILTER and CONFIG_PACKET.  I'm
insmod-ing ethernet modules in at boot time, but I've checked the logs and
my 2 ethernet cards are both getting the same eth[0,1] each time. Just in
case, I tried running the dhcp clients on the other ethernet card: no
luck. There isn't anything in the logs or dmesg about problems with the
ethernet card drivers; my LAN can be accessed just fine through the card
that isn't attached to the ADSL modem.

Different clients: I've tried dhcpcd (my usual), tried dhcp-client and
I've tried pump. All worked under 2.2.17, and failed under 2.4.4. I've
tried logging the complaints to syslog (I *really* wish they had a verbose
option), and all that shows up is a complaint about timing out.

I am really at my wit's end here. All three clients worked *straight* out
of the box under 2.2.17. tcpdump doesn't show *any* reply from any server
when I run the clients manually under 2.4.4. I can't find anything about
DHCP being broken under 2.4.4 on Google or Debian. Can anyone help
me?

The relevant part of .config for 2.4.4:

CONFIG_PACKET=y
# CONFIG_PACKET_MMAP is not set
CONFIG_NETLINK=y
CONFIG_RTNETLINK=y
# CONFIG_NETLINK_DEV is not set
CONFIG_NETFILTER=y
# CONFIG_NETFILTER_DEBUG is not set
CONFIG_FILTER=y
CONFIG_UNIX=y
CONFIG_INET=y
CONFIG_IP_MULTICAST=y
CONFIG_IP_ADVANCED_ROUTER=y
CONFIG_RTNETLINK=y
CONFIG_NETLINK=y

(Is it possible that the two occurrences of CONFIG_NETLINK are causing
problems?)

Re: PHP

2001-05-17 Thread Andreas Hatz
Try the following:

for problem 1): Try deleting the mime types application/x-httpd-php...
(or similar) from your applications in your Netscape preferences. It
seems to me when netscape is faced with a php script that is sent as
source by the server (ie without the correct headers) it adds the mime
type to the helper applications list.

for 2): install the package php3-mysql using # apt-get install
php3-mysql

Also, why are you using php3? I am running php4 for all our php scripts,
works fine. Plus if you add other extensions to the list...

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php3 .asp

it will make apache parse all these extensions as php scripts. So php3
scripts will work under php4 and we can now disguise php scripts as asp
scripts to fool would be crackers (only for a little while at least).

hope that helps,

Andreas

  ? phpinfo(); ?

  Save it, then bring it up in a browser with:

  http://localhost/phpinfo.php3

  If all goes well, you should see the php information page, which can
  tell you all sorts of nifty things about your installation.

  If all doesn't go well, let us know what happens.

Very odd. Did you install apache/php/mysql from source, or from debs?

IIRC, when installing the debs (at least in unstable) it asks to run
apacheconf to set things up. I do remember having to go in and
manually set the mime-type config for .php files, however. I don't
recall having to touch the Add/LoadModule lines (although it'd be a
good idea to check)

Here's the general set of debs I have apt install:

apache php4 php4-dev php4-imap php4-gd php4-mysql mysql-server
libapache-mod-perl libapache-dbi-perl libdbi-perl libdbd-mysql-perl

I think that's everything - if you don't want mod_perl, you can leave
out the last four pretty safely.

Removing Helix libgtk1.2

2001-05-17 Thread Glyn Millington

A while back I toyed with the Helix version of Gnome - bad decision.
Have since been weeding out the Helix packagaes that cause all kinds of
crossed wires in normal debian upgrades.

I've found that I still have the Helix libgtk1.2 - but a simple

dpkg --purge libgtk1.2 wants to take about 30 (normal debian)packages with

Is there a neat way of removing the Helix package and replacing it with
the debian version of libgtk1.2 without stripping out and re-installing

Any help much appreciated.

Is there a neat way of removing the Helix package and replacing it with
the debian version of libgtk1.2 without stripping out and re-installing
half my favourite programmes?

Just install the Debian version of libgtk1.2 over it? It might take a
bit of fiddling if the dependencies are different.

Cheers,

Upgrade from 2.2.r2 to 2.2r3 ?

2001-05-17 Thread Darren Wyn Rees
Would someone please advise me what's the best way to upgrade from

release properly, and I don't see the economic sense of buying
a complete new set of Linux disks.

automated install/re-install from status file or package list

2001-05-17 Thread Andreas Hatz
Does anybody know of a good way of using an old /var/lib/dpkg/status
file to quickly reinstall debian. I would like to be able to do this to
reduce the amount of time it takes me to re-build a machine after an
attack or for installing all the same packages as another web server
instead of choosing all packages manually.

I have tried the following (rather clumsy) method:

# grep -B1 -e install ok  /var/lib/dpkg/status
\|grep Package: |cut -d  -f2  installed.packages
# apt-get install `cat installed.packages`

This does not work as well as I first thought. plenty of broken
packages

This is a functionality of apt-get that would come in very handy I
think.

cheers,

Andreas

Put the line

deb http://ftp.au.debian.org/pub/debian  Debian2.2r3 main contrib
non-free

into your /etc/apt/sources.list and do an apt-get update; apt-get
upgrade

This is for an Australian server, but you get the idea.

cheers,

Have you looked at the apt-zip-package?

 The problem is, there are two other systems involved in this
 process: one sun solaris machine, which I use to run wget on it, and
 a WinNT4 machine to get the downloaded files via ftp to a zip disk
 (I know this is ridiculous, but it's the only possibility for me,
 because the sun one has no zip, the NT one has no wget...) Well,
 the problem is, that some packages are named
 packagexxx-1%3a-yyy.deb. Now, either solaris or NT has a problem
 with the %-sign.

Solaris has no problem.

 I have to manually edit the wget-script so that I replace every % by
 x, downlöoad the whole stuff, and then rename the single
 packages from x back to %. This is a rather annoying procedure,
 for dist-upgrades from unstable to unstable tend to change lots of
 packages.

Have you thought of tar-ing the files on Solaris and save the tar-file
on zip, so the inferior OS wouldn't see the files?

ifconfig -a gives

  TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0

  RX bytes:0 (0.0 b)  TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

I cannot ping myself. I can ping my other station and to the internet.
Leafnode if running but cannot be contacted.

How can I fix it?

Did you remove, rename, recreate, or mess around with /dev/initctl?
That's a pipe that programs such as shutdown use to talk to init.

you can always telnet into your isp, if they allow telnet access, use pine
or mutt, and actually see if anything is worthwhile.
i know i get alot of junkmail and spam.
i either filter it out or delete it straight off the isp so i dont have to
deal with any crap.

It seems that galeon requires a patch to be applied over mozilla0.9.
I imagine that kitame packages didn't have this patch and this certainly
explain the UI related crash.
Perhaps kitame will use this patch as blizzard to for RH packages.
