-I.. -I/usr/include/freetype -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/X11 -I/usr/X11R6/include/X11 -I/usr/local/include -D_REENTRANT -O2 -fPIC -pipe -DHAVE_LIBPNG -DHAVE_LIBTTF -DHAVE_XPM -DHAVE_LIBJPEG -DHAVE_JPEG -c -o gdttf.o ../gdttf.c ../gdttf.c:64: parse error before `TT_Engine' ../gdttf.c:64: warning: no semicolon at end of struct or union ../gdttf.c:65: warning: data definition has no type or storage class ../gdttf.c:66: parse error before `properties' ../gdttf.c:66: warning: data definition has no type or storage class ../gdttf.c:67: parse error before `instance' ../gdttf.c:67: warning: data definition has no type or storage class ../gdttf.c:68: parse error before `char_map_Unicode' ../gdttf.c:68: warning: data definition has no type or storage class ../gdttf.c:70: parse error before `matrix' ../gdttf.c:70: warning: data definition has no type or storage class ../gdttf.c:71: parse error before `imetrics' ../gdttf.c:71: warning: data definition has no type or storage class ../gdttf.c:73: parse error before `}' ../gdttf.c:73: warning: data definition has no type or storage class ../gdttf.c:79: parse error before `TT_Engine' ../gdttf.c:79: warning: no semicolon at end of struct or union ../gdttf.c:80: warning: data definition has no type or storage class ../gdttf.c:85: parse error before `TT_Glyph' (i tak dalej jeszcze kilkadziesiąt linijek) z powyższego wywnioskowałem iż błąd kryje się gdzieś we fragmencie: /* Line separation as a factor of font height.

RES: UNIX world PARTE II
Agora vem a pergunta: Alguma indicação/sugestão?

RES: instalacao e configuracao do tinycobol-0.52 no debian 2.2
Re: UNIX world...
1. O UNIX é OpenSource? Nop. UNIX is a traditional mark from ATT. Sun and SCO (Caldera) compraram a licença de uso do nome. 2. Uma das coisas que são bem distintas entre UNIX e GNU/Linux, notadamente, é a nomenclatura de devices: edbw030:/export/home1/edbgmo)mount | head / on /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 read/write/setuid/largefiles on Wed May 16 21:45:25 2001 /usr on /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s4 read/write/setuid/largefiles on Wed May 16 21:45:25 2001 /proc on /proc read/write/setuid on Wed May 16 21:45:25 2001 /dev/fd on fd read/write/setuid on Wed May 16 21:45:25 2001 /var on /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s3 read/write/setuid/largefiles on Wed May 16 21:45:25 2001 /iizuka on /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6 setuid/read/write/largefiles on Wed May 16 21:45:26 2001 /moduloe on /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s7 setuid/read/write/largefiles on Wed May 16 21:45:26 2001 /opt on /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s5 setuid/read/write/largefiles on Wed May 16 21:45:26 2001 /tmp on swap read/write on Wed May 16 21:45:26 2001 -- []'s Hélio Alexandre Lopes Loureiro e-mail:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Tel.: + 55 11 6224-1795 Division Multiservice Networks - First Deployments Public Key = http://cipsga.procempa.com.br/oks/pt_BR/ (pgp-i 2.6.3) http://www.engnux.ufsc.br/helio/identity.pub.txt /\ \ / Campanha da fita ASCII - Contra mail HTML X ASCII ribbon campaign - Against HTML mail / \

Re: PHP
Hi Keneth, The php3 and php3-mysql packages are for version 3 of php. The packages I mentioned are for version 4. If you want to use version 3, and NOT version 4, then you have the correct packages. If you want to upgrade to php4, install the ones I mentioned. I'm unfamiliar with the tweaks needed to activate the php3 packages, as I haven't installed them myself. I know the php4 packages pretty well, though =) There are basically 2 things you should have to do, to make sure that your apache install recognizes your version of php. The first is to make sure you're loading the php modules. In httpd.conf, look for a line resembling the following: LoadModule php4_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so (this is the php4 module - yours might be libphp3.so or libphp.so) Make sure it's uncommented. Next, look for the following section: # For example, the PHP 3.x module (not part of the Apache # distribution - see http://www.php.net) will typically use: # #AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php3 #AddType application/x-httpd-php3-source .phps # # And for PHP 4.x, use: # AddType application/x-httpd-php .php AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps (here I have the php4 entries uncommented, but you can see the php3 ones above it, commented out in my case. In your case you'll probably want the php3 ones active, and the php4 ones uncommented.) After making sure everything is correct, stop apache with: # /etc/init.d/apache stop Verify that it's indeed stopped (ps aux | grep apache) and restart it with: # /etc/init.d/apache start Now, in your apache docroot (default on Debian seems to be /var/www) make a file called phpinfo.php3 (or phpinfo.php if you upgrade to php4) containing the following: ? phpinfo(); ? Save it, then bring it up in a browser with: http://localhost/phpinfo.php3 If all goes well, you should see the php information page, which can tell you all sorts of nifty things about your installation. If all doesn't go well, let us know what happens. -b3 On Thu, May 17, 2001 at 09:39:36AM +0800, Keneth wrote: I found that PHP3 and PHP3-MYSQL installed in DSELECT, should I remove them and install the deb you mentioned? PIVO Very odd. Did you install apache/php/mysql from source, or from debs? IIRC, when installing the debs (at least in unstable) it asks to run apacheconf to set things up. I do remember having to go in and manually set the mime-type config for .php files, however. I don't recall having to touch the Add/LoadModule lines (although it'd be a good idea to check) Here's the general set of debs I have apt install: apache php4 php4-dev php4-imap php4-gd php4-mysql mysql-server libapache-mod-perl libapache-dbi-perl libdbi-perl libdbd-mysql-perl I think that's everything - if you don't want mod_perl, you can leave out the last four pretty safely. -b3 On Wed, May 16, 2001 at 05:09:21PM +0800, Keneth wrote: The line has been added! and I feel that there is something wrong with the httpd.conf. aptitude holds back packages (while pt-get does not)
since some time ago the aptitude started to act strangely - everytime I do update (u) and then upgrade (g) it holds back huge number of packages (20+). when I run apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade no packages (or only two or three) are held back. I can manually set the packages to be updated (+) and they are updated, so there is no reason to hold them back, I am pretty sure that I did not put the packages on hold manually (it happens repeatedly) - anybody knows what's the deal? should I file a bug (there's no such bug yet) I thought that the information about state of packages (like package being held back) is shared among all the apt application (aptitude, apt-get etc...), how come they are on hold in aptitude but not in apt-get? Although mounting a Yes, I'm running on 2.4.x. disk and doing a manual copy would work, in the event your system disk fails you'd be stuck with an unbootable system. With a RAID, you can failover to the second disk and continue running while you work on replacing the failed disk, then resync everything automatically. This sounds good. Then what tools can I use to set it up? (Assuming that kernel support for RAID-1 is done). BTW, the controller is SCSI, not RAID; I don't think that I'd be able to hot-swap the disk. This sounds really interesting; failover just like that...? And then resync...? Wow. But the above fail means the disk is no longer usable right? What about the /dev/sdx thing? If the first one fail, would the second still be /dev/sdb? My concern is what's in /etc/fstab. Besides, that failover sounds like going to work for data disks. I'm talking about system disks here. What I have done is to create a single partition on the second disk (my swap is on a file), copy all the / files into it (using cp -avf), and then create a new entry in the Grub's menu.lst (which resides on the first disk); hoping that there would be no (hardware) disk failure. I think this would cover me on events like filesystem failures. I use ReiserFS, BTW. It's _way_ fast, but even in 2.4.x it's not considered as stable. The machine has been up for about 7 days; the last reboot was due to out of swapspace, I believe. Or some holes on the swap partition (I have put it on a file, recently). Another thing, is there any way to chroot apt-get? I'd like to install new packages, on the second disk, but using /mnt as the root directory. TIA, Oki

I am running Sid with XFree86 4.0.3-3 on Linux 2.4.4. My predicament, you see, is that my X server seems to hang the machine whenever it fancies. I have maximum uptimes of about 15 to 20 minutes of usage. If I don't touch my X server, it's fine. If I don't use my X server, it's fine. I've tried MemTest86, but that passed with flying colours. Any suggestions for log files to look at, or diagnostics to run? Sounds like it could be a video driver problem. There are a couple things you can try: 1. In the Device section for your video card in your XF86Config-4 file, try adding: Option NoAccel There may be other driver-specific options for your card. What driver are you using? 2. In the same section, instead of your current driver, try: Driver vesa This probably won't give you great performance, but at least it should be stable. -- Kevin

Re: DHCP + ADSL = HELP
Those config options did look suspicious. I'm running 2.4.3, not 2.4.4, but my config file only has 1 CONFIG_NETLINK option. Have you tried moving your .config file somewhere else, and running $ make mrproper menuconfig and comparing the new .config to the old one? Currently I'm using the 2.2.17 kernel, but I want to upgrade to 2.4.4 so I can rip CDs (my burner hangs the whole system under 2.2.17) and get a few improvements to IPv6 networking. Everything works fine when I try booting 2.4.4 -- except for DHCP. I cannot pick up a lease to save my life. When I boot 2.2.17, I pick up a lease during booting in a matter of seconds; both the LAN and the ADSL LEDs on my stock 3Com ADSL modem flash a few times simultaneously, and then I've got the lease. But when I boot 2.4.4, only the LAN light flashes, with increasing pauses between each one, before it finally gives up. When I try tcpdump, all I see are the outgoing BOOTP requests -- nothing back from anyone. I've compiled 2.4.4 with CONFIG_FILTER and CONFIG_PACKET. I'm insmod-ing ethernet modules in at boot time, but I've checked the logs and my 2 ethernet cards are both getting the same eth[0,1] each time. Just in case, I tried running the dhcp clients on the other ethernet card: no luck. There isn't anything in the logs or dmesg about problems with the ethernet card drivers; my LAN can be accessed just fine through the card that isn't attached to the ADSL modem. Different clients: I've tried dhcpcd (my usual), tried dhcp-client and I've tried pump. All worked under 2.2.17, and failed under 2.4.4. I've tried logging the complaints to syslog (I *really* wish they had a verbose option), and all that shows up is a complaint about timing out. I am really at my wit's end here. All three clients worked *straight* out of the box under 2.2.17. tcpdump doesn't show *any* reply from any server when I run the clients manually under 2.4.4. I can't find anything about DHCP being broken under 2.4.4 on Google or Debian. Can anyone help me? Hello, Am Dienstag, den 15. Have you looked at the apt-zip-package? The problem is, there are two other systems involved in this process: one sun solaris machine, which I use to run wget on it, and a WinNT4 machine to get the downloaded files via ftp to a zip disk (I know this is ridiculous, but it's the only possibility for me, because the sun one has no zip, the NT one has no wget...) Well, the problem is, that some packages are named packagexxx-1%3a-yyy.deb. Now, either solaris or NT has a problem with the %-sign. Solaris has no problem. I have to manually edit the wget-script so that I replace every % by x, downlöoad the whole stuff, and then rename the single packages from x back to %. This is a rather annoying procedure, for dist-upgrades from unstable to unstable tend to change lots of packages. Have you thought of tar-ing the files on Solaris and save the tar-file on zip, so the inferior OS wouldn't see the files?
