 Bonjour,

Salut,

device
 match key=volume.fstype string=ntfs
   match key=@block.storage_device:storage.hotpluggable bool=true
 merge key=volume.fstype type=stringntfs-3g/merge
 merge key=volume.policy.mount_filesystem
type=stringntfs-3g/merge
 append key=volume.mount.valid_options
type=strlistlocale=/append
   /match
 /match
/device

 Merci :-)

Voici donc mon fichier /etc/default/mpd :

## Change this to prevent MPD from being started as a system service (for
## example, if you want to run it from a regular user account)
START_MPD=true

## The configuration file location for mpd:
MPDCONF=/etc/mpd.conf

La commande 'sysv-rc-conf --list' me retourne :
...
mpd 0:off1:off2:on3:on4:on5:on6:off
...

*network.protocol-handler.app.mailto **/usr/bin/icedove

correctamente.

Una manera meno elegante puede ser

  /usr/lib/cgi-bin/php4 -i 2/dev/null info.html

  /usr/lib/cgi-bin/php4 -i 2/dev/null info.html

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3215128 2007-05-24 22:54 /usr/bin/php4-cgi

ls -la /usr/lib/cgi-bin/php4
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3215128 2007-05-24 22:54 /usr/lib/cgi-bin/php4

Funciona :).

tradicional.

ii fglrx-atieventsd
1:8-6-2 external events daemon for the
non-free AMD/
ii fglrx-driver
1:8-6-2 non-free AMD/ATI r5xx, r6xx display
driver
ii fglrx-glx
1:8-6-2 proprietary libGL for the non-free
AMD/ATI r
ii fglrx-kernel-src
1:8-6-2 kernel module source for the non-free
AMD/AT
ii fglrx-source
1:8-6-2 kernel module source for the non-free
AMD/AT

He estado leyendo documentacin y no encuentro nada al respecto, he

De todas formas siempre puedes recurrir a *man apt-get* y *man aptitude*

Hola!

 http://www.esdebian.org/foro/25003/iceweasel-se-abre-trabajar-sin-conexion

 A ver si hay suerte

 Gracias Gayer,

que apt-get te pretende borrar.

http://bugs.debian.org

2.6.24...i686

De antemano gracias.

Assunto: [Erro Conhecido GTK] Gadmin-Proftpd falha a guardar definições

Do you want to overwrite proftpd.conf with GADMIN-PROFTPD's
 default configuration ?

clique no separador Privilégios do Utilizador e seleccione a opção
Utilizar dispositivos

maravilhas. Para ser classificado como HighID, abri as portas do modem
Velox e do roteador.

 Grato.

Subject: xserver-xorg-video-intel causes X to crash irrecoverably and without
 warning (fatal server error: lockup)
 Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
 Version: 2:2.3.2-2
 Severity: important

Seemingly at random, and infrequently, X will crash and I will often lose all
open work. After a number of attempts to automatically restart I will be
 given a
message saying that X has crashed and cannot be restarted. Switching to a
different terminal killing all Xsessions and GDM and attempting to restart
 them
does not work. A reboot is seemingly required.

Adding the option NoDRI to xorg.conf appears to prevent this from
 happening?
This is not a good option for me as suspend/resume does not work with this
 option enabled.

It occurs infrequently, perhaps once every 30 or 40 hours of use, and I have
been unable to find any pattern. I believe iceweasel has been open for all
crashes, though this has occured over an upgrade to version 3.0, and has also
persisted over recent updates to xorg and the intel driver.

The xorg.log seems to contain a relevant and hopefully useful error at the
 end
 of the log.

I set the severity to important because it currently causes a loss of data.

Please advise if I can provide more information. Reportbug was not working
 for
me and I have filed this manually.

Below you will find my xorg.log, xorg.conf, kernel version, libc version. I
 am
 running Lenny.

Firefox/Iceweasel 3: agony of the snail

2008-07-20 Thread Jim McCloskey

An upgrade to testing this afternoon unexpectedly brought me
Firefox/Iceweasel 3.0, which was fairly exciting. Here, though, it is
just agonizingly slow---10-12 seconds between clicking `Bookmarks' in
the Toolbar and the display of the menu. Scrolling through:

  http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2008/07/thrd4.html

is like wading through thick, thick mud. When one moves from screen to
screen, iceweasel/firefox takes about 7 or 8 seconds to redraw its
window. It's really unusable.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Epiphany behaves similarly, but Konqueror and Mozilla are wonderfully
fast, suggesting that the problem (whatever it is) lies with Gecko.

This last suspicion was confirmed when I installed epiphany-webkit and
called it explicitly. It was just as fast as Konqueror and Mozilla.

Upgrading to 3.0.1 in unstable makes matters, if anything, worse.

Downgrading to version 2.0 in stable restores normal speed and usability.

The problem is the same in the binary version available directly from
mozilla.org.

sigh

Jim

I suppose the shutdown program also tries to umount nfs

Manually umount -l the remote drive before you shutdown?

This does not work. Manually umounting the nfs drive (after the
computer which hosts the nfs drive is switched off) just leads to
a hang, whether the lazy switch is applied or not. In fact I
cannot even type the umount command entirely: the system hangs
immediately after typing the first 3 characters (including the
leading /) of the mount point.

Anyway it seems (from /etc/init.d/umountnfs.sh) that the -l
switch, as well as the -f switch, is already applied by default.
Running Sid; kernel is a stock Debian one:

It seems that nfs on the remote computer fails to send a command
(before shutting itself down) to the computers to which it
exports, telling them to umount. This may be a bug, or, much more
likely, a failure on my part to understand the nfs export system.
Anyway, I never had this trouble while samba was used for sharing,
rather than nfs.

Well I can't guarantee that it will all be smooth sailing when using Sid
packages. It should work, but obviously mileage varies. You do not want
to do an apt-get upgrade or anything like that but just a simple
'apt-get install package' may work for you. I do not foresee a reason
why you would need to change your kernel or to change anything but the
dependencies required by the package being upgraded by apt-get.

I wish you the best.

Have fun!
Chris Stackpole

Chris - no worries about a guarantee! I can fully appreciate that and
have, over a number of years of using GNU/Linux now, come to expect that
if something can go wrong, it probably will! The result inevitably has
been that I get dragged kicking and screaming into Computer-World with
all its arcane incantations and nuanced temperaments :-) until I can
figure out a fix that works and stays working and almost certainly due
to the help of many people along the way.

So, learning from past experiences, I now need to change my question
from one about controlling apt-get to the methodology of installing a
nVidia driver (and associated libraries, etc.) so that whenever the
kernel headers are upgraded, it doesn't deep-six my xorg, which is what
happened today!

Therefore ...

What is the correct/best/least error-prone method for installing an
nVidia driver from the Debian repositories, on a Lenny machine, so that
whenever the kernel headers are upgraded, the xorg continues to work?

I have done some searching on this, and to be honest some of the docs
seem quite out of date, and some even contradict each other. But so far
I have established that I do the following (I think!):

1. identify the kernel I am running (uname -r)
2. change my apt/sources.list to enable the latest drivers from Sid
3. download nVidia-driver and nVidia-glx and nVidia-settings (?) from
the Sid repos
4. download module-assistant
5. run m-a prepare m-a a-i nvidia
6. check it's okay: grep -q ^nvidia /etc/modules || echo nvidia
/etc/modules
7. install the additionals: apt-get install nvidia-glx/Sid
8. restart the *DM /etc/init.d/gdm restart

Do I have this correct? If not, an informed steer would be welcomed.
What are the gotchas and any tips for troubleshooting?

Thanks

Andy

see this: http://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers In short, if you
change kernels, you will have issues. Even if you use the Nvidia installer.
You will have to re-install against your running kernel either through the
Nvidia installer sh or through using modual assistant.

The easy answer is find the kernel you want and lock it in place (you can do
that with synaptic), or compile your own kernel, then lock that in place so
Debian will not update it.

The slightly harder answer is to update your kernel, make sure your headers
are updated, make sure nvidia-glx, and nvidia-kernel have the same version
numbers (if they do not, you will not be able to compile the new module),
reboot into init 1 (single user mode) run the steps listed in 3. Methods
above, exit into init 5.

Or: install the Nvidia installer, run the nvidia_installer.sh as root from
the cli (remove all nvidia-packages first). Make sure you have a dev
environment (install kernel-package should work) or it will fail. You
will/might get warnings about your kernel not matching your gcc, I ignore it.
When you update the kernel, make sure the headers are updated as well, reboot
into init 1 and re-run the Nvidia_installer.sh.

In short, make sure you know you will have to re-install every kernel update.
If all else fails, keep a copy of xorg.conf in /root and just replace nvidia
with nv and it should start.

Hi all

OK I attempted to update my nVidia driver this weekend as I said I would
earlier this last week.

First, I downloaded the latest nVidia installer for my card, which is a
nVidia GeForce 8500 GT. The latest version is
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.05-pkg1.run. I then made it executable (chmod +x).

Second, I rebooted into single user mode, loading the 2.6.25-2-686
kernel and then ran the installer: ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.05-pkg1.run

Third, after going through the various agreements, etc. and ignoring the
mismatch between compilers, the installation through back an error
message to the effect that the kernel I was running was a Xen kernel and
that the NVIDIA driver does not currently work

You may want to go with those that do not depend on extra libraries to keep
things simple; not the ones that are part of a desktop environment for the
same reason.

On a different note, if I were to try out a new WM now, It'd be 'awesome'

Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.3.2-2
Severity: important

Seemingly at random, and infrequently, X will crash and I will often lose all
open work. After a number of attempts to automatically restart I will be given a
message saying that X has crashed and cannot be restarted. Switching to a
different terminal killing all Xsessions and GDM and attempting to restart them
does not work. A reboot is seemingly required.

Adding the option NoDRI to xorg.conf appears to prevent this from happening?
This is not a good option for me as suspend/resume does not work with this
option enabled.

It occurs infrequently, perhaps once every 30 or 40 hours of use, and I have
been unable to find any pattern. I believe iceweasel has been open for all
crashes, though this has occured over an upgrade to version 3.0, and has also
persisted over recent updates to xorg and the intel driver.

The xorg.log seems to contain a relevant and hopefully useful error at the end
of the log.

I set the severity to important because it currently causes a loss of data.

Please advise if I can provide more information. Reportbug was not working for
me and I have filed this manually.

I can tell you that the noexacomposite option made things much worse. Crashed

Since then I've removed that line from xorg.conf and removed the libflash.so

tried printing to file (direct to PDF, not to ps), and I now get the
same pdffonts output that you do, nice font names but all 'no's in the
 sub column.

Ah, so that is the difference: The cups-pdf virtual printer probably
uses ghostscript directly, including its ugly font naming scheme,
while the print-to-file function of iceweasel seems to work via
libcairo, resulting in nicer names but wasteful embedding of whole
character sets.

OTOH, I find that the file sizes are 10 - 20 percent
*smaller* for pages printed directly to file from IW! I have tried
three different pages: a blog post, a sales invoice and an AP news
 article.

Hmm, maybe cups-pdf works like more a printer driver, embedding
character subsets for each page separately, which could lead to a
certain amount of wasteful overlap. I would then expect to see a
different name for the same font on different pages, though.

Another possible explanation is that libcairo uses a better compression
algorithm for the embedded font data, or that the size of the full
character set of a given font varies with the encoding.

Your test page, OTOH, is about 4 to 5 times *larger* when
printed directly to file. Perhaps the reason is that your page uses
relatively few characters per font, while more typical pages tend to
use much larger subsets, which limits the savings realized by only
including subsets of the fonts in the file?

Yes, indeed, that might also explain why the print-to-file function does
not bother to figure out the minimum necessary character subset to
embed: It does not matter all that much unless somebody puts up a font
test page with many different fonts and only a few characters for each
individual font.

perfectly. When I boot 2.6.25-2-686-bigmem, no entries for these
devices appear in /dev.

There are no error messages referring to the DVD drives elsewhere in
dmesg.

There's a slight difference in the output of lsmod | grep ide between
the two kernels. For the working kernel:

ide_cd 36224 0
cdrom 32512 2 ide_cd,sr_mod
ide_core 108292 2 ide_cd,generic

For the bigmem kernel that doesn't detect the drives:

ide_cd_mod 33632 0
cdrom 32640 2 sr_mod,ide_cd_mod
ide_pci_generic 4996 0 [permanent]
ide_core 101624 2 ide_cd_mod,ide_pci_generic

I have ide-core, ide-cd, cdrom and sr_mod listed in /etc/modules to
try to ensure relevant stuff gets loaded at boot.

I'd appreciate any advice about next steps for tracking down the
problem.

Epiphany behaves similarly, but Konqueror and Mozilla are wonderfully

This last suspicion was confirmed when I installed epiphany-webkit and

Upgrading to 3.0.1 in unstable makes matters, if anything, worse.

Downgrading to version 2.0 in stable restores normal speed and usability.

The problem is the same in the binary version available directly from

OK I attempted to update my nVidia driver this weekend as I said I would
 earlier this last week.

Good for you!

First, I downloaded the latest nVidia installer for my card, which is a
nVidia GeForce 8500 GT. The latest version is
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.05-pkg1.run. I then made it executable (chmod +x).

That works, but is not necessary. Just do:
# sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.05-pkg1.run

Second, I rebooted into single user mode, loading the 2.6.25-2-686
kernel and then ran the installer: ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.05-pkg1.run

You don't need to be in single-user mode. Unless, I guess, you boot
into [xgk]dm.

Third, after going through the various agreements, etc. and ignoring the
mismatch between compilers, the installation through back an error
message to the effect that the kernel I was running was a Xen kernel and
that the NVIDIA driver does not currently work on Xen kernels.

After that, there was no way forward except for me to reboot into the
 current kernel which is 2.6.24-1-686.

I didn't know that I had obtained a Xen kernel from the automatic
updates, nor do I understand why this would be a problem. Although,

Ah, bummer. Maybe Xen is now built into the Debian kernel image?

Try:
$ ls -aFl /boot/config*

Changing locale for X session

How do I set the locale for a user to something other than the one set by
debconf in the locales package?

This should be the user's default in X sessions.

I was told that gdm has a feature for this but I'm using kdm.

Ah, I understand, let me explain:

The Debian website has a system for tracking old translations. Each
translated page has a special header which tells what English CVS
version it refers to.

Now, consider somebody is making cosmetic changes to the English version
(ex. changing to q), this would mark all translations outdated! In
order to prevent this a perl script was written (smartchange.pl) which
also takes care about the translations. Of course, in order for it to
work it must have access to all translations of the page to be changed,
hence the requirement to have a full checkout.

I hope I was able to explain it simply enough, as I'm not sure I
understand it very well ;) (see my .sig).

Andrei

I do not know where that 3D came from, but it isn't valid.

Try setting LC_ALL= and LANG= in ~/.xsession

Make sure the locale is correct, e.g. mine would be:
export LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8
export LANG=en_US.UTF-8

Capitalization and punctuation of the locale is important.

Generally:
language_LOCATION.ENCODING

Can you elaborate? With a display manager one cannot kill X to make new

If you run

I'm currently doing an aptitude dist-upgrade, hoping that'll fix the

not installed at that point, I'll see if I can't get it installed.

Also try

strace -f iceweasel --safe-mode

well, you still aren't running the debian version, but instead running
the adobe installed version. There's nothing inherently wrong with
that except that your package manager doesn't have control of the
situation anymore, so you may run into trouble later.

I would recommend that you try completely removing the adobe version
and reinstalling the debian version. It is likely, I think, that
trying to run two versions simultaneously was the problem.

In my opinion, it is preferable to run the debian packages instead of
the adobe install.

You may want to go with those that do not depend on extra libraries to keep
things simple; not the ones that are part of a desktop environment for the
 same reason.

I'd second that. keep it simple. If you can grok haskell, then look at
xmonad. It's a basic tiling window manager in just a few hundred lines
of code. Otherwise, look at the other small ones: awesome, as
mentioned; maybe wmii, they recently redid the whole thing, so it's
likely that the code is fairly clean, others?
