Almost solved: Re: grub-efi configuration on old Mac Pro

It has taken many hours, but my Mac Pro (model MacPro1,1) finally automatically booted Debian from rEFInd and the grub2 menu. Problems/challenges: - grub-efi[-ia32[-bin]] doesn't properly set the path to find the efi image when installed and set-up by a package manager. I've filed a bug report

I'm about to buy a new motherboard (and CPU etc.) and will probably switch from i386 to amd64 system. Many motherboards have a chipset which requires newer kernel than 2.6.32 which is on Debian 6.0.5. On the other hand backports.debian.org has kernel 3.2. Is it possible to install Debian 6.0.5 dir

libnspr4-0d missing for Iceweasel in squeeze-backports

Iceweasel 12.0-7~bpo60+1 is installed here. Available after reloading squeeze-backports for Synaptic is Iceweasel 13.0-1~bpo60+1. Unfortunately xulrunner-13.0 can't be installed, since it depends to libnspr4-0d (>=4.8.9) but 4.8.6-1 is to be installed, IOW synaptic doesn't show libnspr4-0d (>=4.8.9
