No password hashes loaded

Sur ce site :
http://www.openwall.com/john/doc/EXAMPLES.shtml
# unshadow /etc/passwd /etc/shadow  /root/mypasswd
# john /root/mypasswd

http://www.openwall.com/john/doc/FAQ.shtml
# john --format:MD5 /root/mypasswd

https://www.suse.com/documentation/sles11/singlehtml/stor_admin/
stor_admin.html#raidresize

¡Hola a tod@s y feliz año nuevo!

:D

 pppd[3007]: Plugin /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.5/nm-pppd-plugin.so loaded.

 kernel: [ 428.825029] PPP generic driver version 2.4.2

 pppd[3007]: pppd 2.4.5 started by root, uid 0

 pppd[3007]: Using interface ppp0

 pppd[3007]: Connect: ppp0 -- /dev/rfcomm0

 pppd[3007]: PAP authentication succeeded

 kernel: [ 428.905751] PPP BSD Compression module registered

 kernel: [ 428.934039] PPP Deflate Compression module register

Squid Cache: Version 2.7.STABLE9

configure options:  '--prefix=/usr' '--exec_prefix=/usr'
'--bindir=/usr/sbin' '--sbindir=/usr/sbin'
'--libexecdir=/usr/lib/squid' '--sysconfdir=/etc/squid'
'--localstatedir=/var/spool/squid' '--datadir=/usr/share/squid'
'--enable-async-io' '--with-pthreads'
'--enable-storeio=ufs,aufs,coss,diskd,null' '--enable-linux-netfilter'
'--enable-arp-acl' '--enable-epoll'
'--enable-removal-policies=lru,heap' '--enable-snmp'
'--enable-delay-pools' '--enable-htcp' '--enable-cache-digests'
'--enable-underscores' '--enable-referer-log' '--enable-useragent-log'
'--enable-auth=basic,digest,ntlm,negotiate'
'--enable-negotiate-auth-helpers=squid_kerb_auth' '--enable-carp'
'--enable-follow-x-forwarded-for' '--with-large-files'
'--with-maxfd=65536' 'powerpc-debian-linux'
'build_alias=powerpc-debian-linux' 'host_alias=powerpc-debian-linux'
'target_alias=powerpc-debian-linux' 'CFLAGS=-Wall -g -O2' 'LDFLAGS='
'CPPFLAGS

lsof -i | grep LISTEN

squid 4238   proxy9u  IPv4 444516  0t0  TCP
localhost:http-alt (LISTEN)

problemas.

La configuración de squid la obtuve de:

https://calomel.org/squid.html

montar squid

http://lists.debian.org/debian-user-spanish/2012/12/msg00292.html

http://www.tutoriales-ubuntu.com/archives/configurar-un-proxy-transparente-con-squid

inadecuada.

He leído que a nivel usuario

 directorio repository/hooks/post-commit.tmpl
 root@trackersvn:~# ls -lh repository/hooks/

Re: Consulta SVN + Apacha + Samba

2013-01-02 Thread Itzcoalt Alvarez

RE: Is this OK in C++ and C?

2013-01-02 Thread Mark Allums

 Joe Pfeiffer :

int main()
{
const unsigned int n = -5;

cout  The variable n is:   n  endl;

return 0;
}

Results:
$ g++ -Wall -W  prog.cpp -o prog
$ ./prog
The variable n is: 4294967291

  This is expected behavior, but not defined by the standard because the
  result is not portable. That is, a rollover value will occur, but it
  could vary depending on the width of an int, and possibly by the
  binary representation. As far as I know all systems that Debian with
  gcc runs on are two's complement, but still...

 I believe it is indeed defined behavior.

   6.3.1.3 Signed and unsigned integers

 2 Otherwise, if the new type is unsigned, the value is converted by
 repeatedly adding or
   subtracting one more than the maximum value that can be represented in
 the new type

Yes, defined conversion, but not a defined *exact* result; that is, the
result is system dependent.

So, yeah.

  This kind of type shenanigan is allowed in C/C++ because of silent
  standard conversions.

Yes. My mistake, sorry. It's one of the things I change so early on -

 Agreed. But the natural follow-on to this would be to use the DISPLAY
 to set to a remote display such as:

  DISPLAY=otherhost.example.com:0 vlc *.WAV

 And that will run into the issue that by default X Window servers
 these days no longer listen to the network for connections.

Agreed. Fortunately ssh has options to transport the DISPLAY across the
encrypted session, and mostly it all just works.

Otoh, I wonder if it would be possible to get blowfish hashed passwords

module information

2013-01-02 Thread shawn wilson
So, this is more of a curiosity at this point. However, I can't figure
out how to directly associate loaded modules with the file on disk -
checksum or whatever. Not sure if there's a debugfs module to do this,
I've looked in /proc and /sys and can't find anything useful.
/proc/sys/kernel
/sys/devices/system/cpu/kernel_max
/sys/kernel
/sys/module/kernel

Again, I can run lsmod and see what modules are loaded and run modinfo
and look at metadata of a kernel object module on the filesystem but
how do I forensically connect the two?

 Yes :-)

 I wanted to prohibit user to assign negative value to a variable.
 This variable is later passed to a recurrence function as
 argument and of course I got segmentation fault, because
 the function is called 4294967291 times.

I guess you mean recursive function. (Isn't English fun? Hang in there.)

Usually, when you want to catch negative parameters, you also want to
catch positive parameters that are too large. In this case, I'm sure
you do. As someone else pointed out, that means you want to explicitly
range-check your parameters. (And your parameters should be signed,
and large enough, to allow the range checks.)

With recursive calls, I find it useful to define a doorway function
whose sole purpose is to do the range check and pass the valid calls
on to the recursive function. That provides the control you need on
the range check (and gives you a place to define return values for
out-of-range conditions), and it gets the range check out of the way
in the recursive part, where repeated range checks really slow things
down.

This took me a couple of years to figure out, but unsigned types are
not for enforcing range. They are strictly for optimization. For
example (in C, not C++):

int doorway( int p1, int * result )
{
/* Note that this constant upper limit is not necessarily SHRT_MAX
from limits.h */
if ( ( p1  0 ) || ( p1  0x7fff ) )
{   return BAD_RANGE;
}
* result = recurse( (unsigned short) p1 )
...
return GOOD_RANGE;
}

unsigned short recurse( unsigned short p1 )
{
...
intermediate = recurse( /* some expression that never goes
negative or exceeds USHRT_MAX */ );
...
}

 I was very surprised when I discover that this code was compiled
 without any warning. I thought if a variable is 'unsigned int'
 then this is not allowed to assign negative value.
 That's all.

 Thank you very much.

Have fun!

Problem Mounting USB Stick in Debian Wheezy

2013-01-02 Thread Stephen P. Molnar
I am running Debian Wheezy on an Oracle VB on my Laptop and can't mount
an USB Stick, although I have installed usbmount.

The system is finding four USB devices:

Logitech USB receiver (my wireless mouse)
The USB  Stick I mounted
and two unknown US Devices

I know that the stick is muntable because it mounts when I insert it in
a USB port that's run Squeeze as a native OS. I have to conclude that
the problme is with the virtual machine in which I am running Wheezy,
but am very hesitant to mess around with VirtualBox as I really don't
know what I'm doing.

Help will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Have you told VirtualBox to connect the USB stick to the guest machine?
By default, VirtualBox will ignore all USB devices and the host will
control them. Plug the USB stick into the host and wait a few moments
for things to settle, then select Devices USB Devices Whatever the
USB Stick shows up as. That should put a tick next to that device and
the guest will be given control of the device. Again, allow things a
moment to settle, then run lsusb in the guest to check that it sees
the stick.

Have you installed VirtualBox Guest Additions?  It's required to fully enable
USB.  Also, which version of VB did you install?  Did you install directly from
the Wheezy repos or from VirtualBox?

 The manual is a little vague. But that is what they show in the
 examples.

This really bothered me. Why should url=file:///mnt/preseed.cfg work but
file=/mnt/preseed.cfg fail? Surely there cannot be anything special
about url= which does not apply to file= ? A file is a file irrespective
of the method used to load it into d-i.

It is instructive to use url= and file= with

auto=true priority=low

added to the kernel command line after pressing TAB at the boot menu.

With

auto=true priority=low url=url=file:///mnt/preseed.cfg

the preconfiguration file is available to load after the network is set
up. This makes sense; no network; no ablity to access a URL. Load the
file and the two delayed questions (language and keyboard) now become
visible in the main menu.

The preconfiguration file can be made available much earlier in the
install when file= is used. But loading it does not lead to the language
and keyboard questions being asked. Hence - no preseeding is possible.

After examining the source package for preseed this resulted in #696857.
The issue should be fixed in Wheezy at least.

Wheezy Installer Auto-Partition Oddity

2013-01-02 Thread Patrick Bartek
In preparation of a clean install of Wheezy, I did a test install in VirtualBox
3.1.8 running under  Fedora 12 64-bit.  To save time, I used the installer's
default partitioning scheme.  Normally I custom partition.  Anyway, I noticed
an oddity:  There are gaps between the partitions.  Sizable ones.  Plus, sda1
starts at 2048, not 1.  I don't know if this is due to the installer
partitioner or a quirk in VirtualBox.  I noticed this on a VB install of Debian
6, too, on the same system.  Anybody got any ideas on the why?  Wasn't able to
find anything applicable on net searches.

Here's the output for fdisk -l on the Wheezy virtual hard drive.

Using GPT, the first partition starts at 2048. Get used to it.
Seriously, this is how disks are partitioned these days.

You have an extended partition for swap space. I'd remove it and make
the swap partition a primary partition if you really want a swap
partition. No need for two partition tables on a disk with only two real
partitions.

issue creating wheezy lxc container

2013-01-02 Thread Enrique Garcia

 Hi,

 I am trying to install my first LXC container under Debian following the
instructions in the wiki:

 http://wiki.debian.org/LXC

 Both the host and the container are wheezy, therefore I just run lxc-create
-n debian-wheezy -t debian and selected wheezy when prompted. I left the rest
of the options in the default values.
 However when I run the container with lxc-start -n debian-wheezy, I don't
get the login prompt. Instead of that, after some time, I get the following
messages:

INIT: Id 3 respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id 1 respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id 4 respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id 6 respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id 5 respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id 2 respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel

 And that will be repeated forever.

 Any ideas on how to fix this?

 BTW, under Ubuntu the package lxc-0.7.5-3ubuntu66 includes a /etc/init.d/lxc-
net which sets up a very convenient network bridge, so that the user doesn't
have to worry about that. Is it possible to have this support under Debian?

 Best regards,
 Enrique

Or is this old news. If it's old news, where is the new news to be found?

I'm planning on setting up ext4 partitions on LVM2 over RAID1 on a pair of

squeeze (now), wheezy (later), and whatever comes later.

I'm not interested in running out of anything but space (which is a

Well I guess lsmod doesn't need to show anything since the default path for
the kernel modules is under /lib/modules/`uname -r` as you said. There is a
/etc/modules.conf which is the kernel modules configuration file where you
can create aliases, override module path etc. if you want (read the manual
page for modules.conf, example
http://linux.about.com/od/commands/l/blcmdl5_modules.htm). By the way, by
manually loading something from different location but the default one
don't you already know the location of that file :)

 It's required to fully enable USB. Also, which version of VB did you

Also +1, if you need USB support you need to download VBox version from

 Using GPT, the first partition starts at 2048. Get used to it.
 Seriously, this is how disks are partitioned these days.

That answers the second queston.

Not really up on GPT.  But from what little I know, I won't need it for the
real installation of Wheezy.

Also, just realized that the partition info above is in sectors by default and
not cylinders by default as I'm accustomed to seeing.  That changes things a
little. ;-)

 You have an extended partition for swap space. I'd remove it and make
 the swap partition a primary partition if you really want a swap
 partition. No need for two partition tables on a disk with only two real
 partitions.

As I said in my original query, this partitioning was done automatically by the
Wheezy installer.  I would have never partitioned that way myself.  Besides
this is just a test install to root out any problems for when I do the real one
on a real hard drive.

Still don't know why there are gaps between the partitions.

 I found linux kernel series 3.0.0, properly discovered and used the RAID

 in kernels 3.2 up to current day 3.7.1 kernels.

 System Firmware BIOS level: 01.06.0002 2012/11/15 (most current to-date)

Thanks to both of you for the feedback, I've tried both of these kernel
parameters
separately (acpi=off, pci=conf1) and still could not get it working in Debian
Wheezy
with the Intel RMS25CB080 RAID controller with a new Intel W2600CR motherboard.

This is fine for the moment because my needs are met by using the onboard Intel

SATA/RAID controller instead.

Ron's discovery of broken Linux PCI discovery sounds very interesting, but I
have
no need to pursue this matter further. I hope someone in the right place finds
the
time to look into it.

FWIW, the wheezy installer created the same partitioning scheme on a hard drive

reason to manually partition the drive prior to installing wheezy in the
future. I usually do that but was being a bit lazy this one time. ;)

However if modules can't be audited, this is the perfect for a rootkit

The only reason I can think about is the new requirement for partitioning on 4k
boundaries due to new harddrive specs. Harddrives used to be broken up in 512b
blocks, they are now chopped up in 4k blocks. I read a good article the other
day explaining the performance hits if the OS does not properly allign the
partition boundaries to the new 'Advanced Format' 4k boundaries. Unfortunately
that was in a paper magazine so I cannot refer to it here. But have a look at
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/advanced-format-4k-sector-size-hard-drive,2759.html
 and look in Wikipedia for more info.
