This hack still hasn't failed me. First, I do a PDF
that is A5 (i.e., smaller than A4). Then I print it on
a regular A4.

If you have an old spare machine, you can experiment easily and at no cost
by making it a dedicated router/firewall.
A good choice is IPCop, which almost anyone can install and configure in
less than an hour.
