and a motherboard with RAID controller (ASUS PC-DL). The BIOS recognizes
my RAID system, however debian (testing) doesn't. I guess it's a kernel

have on your system.
You can't remove it, that could be because of attributes of the file,
check out what lsattr file gives you.
The file is probably a corrupt file that should be there...

During installation you get the question from where you want to install
the base system, I guess you should choose harddisk and select /dev/hdc1
(or in case you've already mounted /dev/hdc1, choose already mounted

PS. I would recommend using ssh instead of telnet because of security
issues. (ssh is encrypted and therefore lot safer, telnet eg. sends
passwords over the network as plain text)

You could simply download potato debian packages for x and install them
using dpkg: dpkg -i package, however you might have to install more
potato packages, because of dependencies with versions.

Why do you want the source packages? For almost evry package you can find
a .deb, which is a lot esier then compiling.
I put my source code (only kernels actually) in /usr/src
