I finally have gotten a clean install of gnome2 for my unstable dist laptop, and I'm
having some strange problems with gnome2 and was wondering if anyone else is having
them
1. I have a 1.7 Ghz p4m laptop with 512megs mem. However, gnome feels extreamly
sluggish. An example of this

I am having some problems running Gnome. I have just built my new Dell
Inspiron 8200 laptop with Debian 3.0 and used the unstable tree for the
install of packages. I know that the unstable tree is a moving target,
but it has several things that I wanted (such as gnome 2).

I guess I'm going to have to use the mail program in Netscape, since I can't
find any other descent X mail programs. However, I'm not sure how to set it
up. I have exim filters running that are sorting all of my mail into the
appropriate folders. I've set it up so that no mail should be left

system is not working. Last night, I did a clean install of slink, and setup
fetchmail and exim and tested them. Fetchmail pulled down my mail, and
eventually exim delivered it (over an hour later).

I'm kind of at a loss as to what is going on with my system. I am
running a slink/potatoe machine with 2.2.1. I was playing x11amp off of
my cd changer (scsi) when I had a hard lockup (still a mystery as to
why, but something with the changer). Anyway, this is not the first
time for a lock up,

I have the exact same card, and can say that it performs beautifully
under linux. As someone else has already stated, the default XF86_SVGA
server does not support it in debian. However, you can get the new
3.3.3 version or go to http://www.d128.com/ and get the version for
