NIS between Subnets

Is it possible to use an NIS-Server from a Client on a different subnet? In the old NIS implementation there was a /etc/yp.conf in which I could set ypserver nis-master. This is no longer used by the new ypbind. I tried ypbind -S mydomain,nis-master but it still doesn't bind. Harald Schueler
