shutdown after kernel upgrade
Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 5315 laptop, Intel GMA965 chipset, with Debian Testing installed. Today morning I've made an system upgrade. Since then, when kernel 2.6.32-trunk-686 is loaded, the laptop is powering off suddenly, few minutes after boot. If I choose the old kernel the symptom do not happens. Is any bug or there are some config to do? In time: another machine, a desktop, with the same distro, was upgraded too and didn't show any problem with the new kernel. Best regards, -- Márcio H. Re: Nautilus messed up in testing
Hi, Nautilus crashing when clicking in preferences is a know bug. Meantime, as workaround, one can set preferences using gconf-editor, in apps->nautilus. Re: strange aptitude error
Hi, How many kernel images are installed to take 69MB in the /boot? Re: automatically loading iptables
There is another way, using 'iptables-save' and 'iptables-restore' (see 'man' for details), but personally I prefer to put the script in '/etc/init.d/' and create the symlinks with 'update-rc.d'. It's easy and clean and less likely to happen you lock yourself outside after a network restart or a reboot. -- Márcio H. Re: seeking advice on free dns
If you will be to use dynamic IP, I recommend DNSexit (www.dnsexit.com). Its TTL is adjusted low, so it has a faster propagation, about ten minutes only, I guess.
