I tried a couple different Win95 FTP daemons to do what you are talking about and none of the handled the symlinks to a point that it was usable. I ended up just installing Debian on the computer with the CDROM and doing a NFS install from there. RE: How to copy Debian?
There was a message on c.o.l.a a while ago about a site that would allow you to do nfs installations of debian. I have the message on my computer somewhere, but I can't find it right now. Just check the c.o.l.a archives for the message. Leander, I said: >Have a look at the mirror package (optional, in the net category). From >the Packages file: Sorry: forgot to add that I have no idea how you can do this purely from Windows. I can only suggest getting a minial Debian machine with networking running, and controlling your operations from there. Leander Berwers wrote: >I mean how can I copy from a mirror site to my Windows machine. I do have >a ftp server on Windows. Have a look at the mirror package (optional, in the net category). From the Packages file: Description: Perl program for keeping ftp archives up-to-date. Mirror uses the ftp protocol to duplicate a directory hierarchy between the machine it is run on and a remote host. It avoids copying files unnecessarily by comparing the file time-stamps and sizes before transferring. Amongst other things, it can optionally gzip and split files. It was written for use by archive maintainers but can be used by anyone wanting to transfer a lot of files via ftp.
