Anyone using a registrar that they like? I want to get some of my clients
accounts off of NetSol. I have some registered at www.dotearth.com but I
would like a registrar that I can maintain multiple domains from a central
 interface like at NetSol.

 Thanks,

Tucows has always been more than good to me, though for smaller
resellers they charge $10 per domain and it might require a $250 or $500
initial deposit. They run one of the tightest ships around and keep
customers due to their service and not their price (who really cares if
you save $3 damn bucks). There is no advertising and the system is
fairly straightforward (if you want it to be).

http://resellers.tucows.com/

I don't sell registrations because of the profit, I sell them because I
have a certain level of control and don't have to wait on the phone for
30 minutes only to have to explain to tech support how things really
work and try to convince them to forward me to their supervisor (good
luck with NSI). I charge between $15 and $25 per year, but I take care
of everything for my customers.

They also resell DNS and mail services if you ever had a need for them.

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Question about MAILBOX action.

2004-01-31 Thread R. Scott Perry

Since that change I've noticed that spam (like the attached) that is to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] can end up in my inbox (I have jlevitsk as an alias to root
on the server) rather than it going in to my JunkMail folder.

Received: from SMTP32-FWD by joshie.com
  (SMTP32) id A047C0052; Fri, 30 Jan 2004 20:31:00
This line shows that the E-mail was forwarded -- note that forwarded E-mail
won't have the MAILBOX action applied to it (since it may be forwarded to
another server that doesn't support mailboxes the way that IMail does).

2004-01-31 Thread Matt Robertson
Go with GoDaddy as a *reseller* thru their Wild West Domains subsidiary.

I used to just handle this for clients. Now I make a fair income in
commissions. Disgusting that it's a revenue stream I used to ignore.

Go to my web site and click 'register domains'. That's their standard
reseller page, with my customized prices on it (I bump them up a tad to
increase my income... This isn't what I'm paying).

I both register stuff for clients and direct them here to buy their own.
Commission checks are direct-deposited monthly. I especially like the
ability to determine expirations globally across all accounts.

Dotster.com looks like they may be a good option. But when I
looked through their site for a link to email questions to them I could not

Looks like you have to register with them before you can ask a

Very heavy claim! Can you support this information...not doubting what you
are saying but it would be nice to have some sources that can prove what
 you say.

Your log files.

Just look to see who the registrar is on any of the spammers domains.

That is why we dropped dotster like a hot potato. It took us a month to
transfer out each one of the customers that we had. Every time a
customer started a transfer away from them it would fail saying that the
losing register denied the transfer. So after 3-4 emails saying that it
was the new registers fault they finally would OK it. It took a week to
even get a response from email if you did at one at all and the only
thing they would tell you is try it again. We never had this problem
transferring from any other register.

I have even had DNS entire at dotster magically disappear too. They
could not explain it. When I found there phone number and call them no
matter what time or what ext you tried you got a voice mail never got a
response from any phone call. Now that is customer service!

OK, I am done venting :)

Sheldon,

Just because the spammer decided to use the most inexpensive register
don'ts mean they support spamming.

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] OT: Domain Registrar recommendation

2004-01-31 Thread Keith Anderson

We receive around 5 million spam emails per day here, and have been
harvesting a database of spammer URL's embedded in the message body, and we
do statistical mining to ISP and registrar. This connection between
registrars and spammers has been investigated a number of times, and is
nothing new. Bulk Register is the least guilty of the five, because as far
as we can tell, they only provide services to customers they know are
engaged in spamming activities.

The other four are a bit more quilty-- not only do they appear to be the
same company, but that company hosts an extraordinary number of domains
used by spammers, and they own or manage an extraordinary number of IP
classes used to transmit spam. More specific information regarding these
findings will be available publicly once the legal process has been
completed. For example, all four have consented to sell large numbers of
randomly-named domains for the use of spamming, and a tremendous discount.

not use TuCows (DomainDirect) to register his new domain, He used
GoDaddy instead!. We initially tried Domain Direct only to be nickel
and dimed to death, so we pulled out right away. For example, they
would let you transfer at a low rate, but then the charge you if you
wanted to host your own DNS and edit the records accordingly. We have
found none of this with enom.com and despite being the one of lowest
prices we have found, the support is great.

Dotster has some site integration stuff too.

Here's a template I've been messing with because a client of mine was trying

They used to have (maybe they still do) a bunch of scripts so you could do
very advanced integration.

Anyone using a registrar that they like? I want to get some of my clients
accounts off of NetSol. I have some registered at www.dotearth.com but I
would like a registrar that I can maintain multiple domains from a central
 interface like at NetSol.

 Thanks,

 Todd Hunter

This line shows that the E-mail was forwarded -- note that forwarded
E-mail
won't have the MAILBOX action applied to it (since it may be forwarded to
another server that doesn't support mailboxes the way that IMail does).

After posting I realized that it is of course a forward because IMail won't
let me delete the root account. Both domains are on the same IMail server
though.

What do others with multiple domains that use MAILBOX do for their root
acocunts and such to consolidate the mail but still have the MAILBOX action
do its thing?

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] OT: Domain Registrar recommendation

2004-01-31 Thread GlobalWeb.net Webmaster
I haver transferred over 200 domains from NetSol without a hitch - it's
completely automated via emal.

the only problems we occur is when the admin email address is an old
address not used anymore by the customer; we then have to get cust to
call NetSol and get this info changed, most of the time via a fav
autorization form.

Of course you cannot TX a name if it's with a week or 2 or expiring; we
set our sites on them at the 2 month remaining mark to give plenty of
time for a do-over should the customer not reply in time to the initial
emails.

You just have to be sure the name is not locked before the TX attempt.

We've been trying for over 8 months to transfer some domains from
network solutions (AKA Network/Verisign Steal-utions).. They are holding
the domain until it gets close to or it expires. Probably trying to
promote there Pay us NOW to reserve this domain name SCAM. (holding it
hostage) Too bad there isn't a government oversight, etc, committee
that controlls this crap.. Network Steal-utions/Veristold is horrible at
ANYTHING they do. Period. We have documentation awaiting the day that
the domains expire and they don't release them or sell them off. I also
reserved MSN.COM, Microsoft.com .. Think they'll sell them to me for
24.95 a year.. LOL .. Not..

Here is just 1 of many of there victims:

That is why we dropped dotster like a hot potato. It took us
a month to transfer out each one of the customers that we
had. Every time a customer started a transfer away from them
it would fail saying that the losing register denied the
transfer. So after 3-4 emails saying that it was the new
registers fault they finally would OK it. It took a week to
even get a response from email if you did at one at all and
the only thing they would tell you is try it again. We never
had this problem transferring from any other register.

I have even had DNS entire at dotster magically disappear
too. They could not explain it. When I found there phone
number and call them no matter what time or what ext you
tried you got a voice mail never got a response from any
phone call. Now that is customer service!

OK, I am done venting :)
