Re: [Declude.Virus] Declude Upgrade on IMail - Resolution (was Key Trouble)
Replying to my own last post to close out this thread. This morning I called Declude Support and got a tech right away. :-) We deleted the Program Files/Declude folder, and ran SetupIMupgrade4340.exe again. Worked like a charm. The files were installed to the wrong place the first time, and were installed to the proper place the second time. The only difference I can see is the second Installation was started without stopping the services first. The Installation stops the services as part of the install and restarts them when it's done Don't know if this could have anything to do with the issue, but I thought I'd document it here. Thanks Darrell, John T, and Matt for your help in my time of distress! Bill Green dfn Systems Darrell, The Logs stopped at the time I ran the Upgrade Install. At that time I had: stopped services - SMTP QueManager DecludeProc copied my Declude folder to another location for a backup Ran SetupIMupgrade4340.exe Stopped DecludeProc again. (Setup had started it) Started Services SMTP QueueManager DecludeProc Checked the dec0322.log. No activity. I opened the Imail\Declude Folder and found a new file called diags.txt. It contained the error about the key. I checked TaskMonitor and found Processor utilization had fallen to about a third of normal, but the decludeproc process was running. Noted that Declude was not functioning. I still received email but also hordes of spam. Headers showed no declude lines. Went to the Declude Website for instructions about the Installation. Checked the archives about the key. Panicked / Wrote desperate emails to declude.virus list. Found a reference in the Archives to a Declude Folder in Program Files. Checked Program Files and sure enough, I now have one. Got List email from Darrell with proper Key Format. Entered CODE KEY# in both places. Restarted services. Still no Log Activity, and diags.txt still showed the error about the Key. Renamed and copied Declude.IMail and DecludeProc.Imail to IMail folder and restarted services. Log Activity started. Now that Declude is running again, decludeproc -v shows I'm still at 3.0.5.20. IMail\Declude\diags.txt no longer shows the error. I'm confused, But at least I'm up and running. :-) Bill Green dfn Systems --- This E-mail came from the Declude.Virus mailing list. Re: [Declude.Virus] Declude Upgrade on IMail - Key Trouble
Thanks Darrell, I put it in both declude.cfg files. I now have two. One in the IMail\Decude Folder, and one in the Program Files\Declude Folder. I'm not sure which one is working right now. Re: [Declude.Virus] Declude Upgrade on IMail - Key Trouble
Is there an actual set of instructions for a Declude Upgrade for IMail? The Declude site lists Installation Instructions, but they are for SmarterMail. The Knowledge Base is no help. Declude Support has gone Home. My Upgrade has gone horribly wrong and I now seem to have a hybrid monster. Re: [Declude.Virus] ClamAV Footer ...
Andrew, Sandy is Sanford Whiteman. He is a regular, knowlegeable, and very appreciated contributor to this list. If you have been a member of this list for very long, you have certainly already seen some of his submissions. Sandy's submissions always have full contact information at the bottom. More importantly, I believe, is that Matt was alluding to the link at the bottom of this and every list submission. Using the mail-archive, you can look for one of Sandy's submissions, or search for past submissions about Sandy's Footer Application and inform yourself. The archives take a little getting used to, but they are a great wealth of information. Best of all, you don't have to wait for a list responce over the weekend. :-) Bill Green dfn Systems - Original Message - From: "Andrew Peskin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Friday, February 17, 2006 10:34 PM Subject: Re: [Declude.Virus] ClamAV Footer ... I've disabled Norton but I was wondering if I could re-enable Norton but just not have it scan the imail directory? The two directories you want to exclude are the users directory and the spool directory. Both of these directories are usually in the IMail directory though they don't have to be. Many have them on different partitions for performance and to limit fragmentation. You may want to exclude other directories as well depending on your setup.
