Hi
all.
We have a situation
here where we have an NT service and a normal DB Application that both use
Interbase.
The problem we have
is that the NT Service chews up an IB lic. when it is in use...i.e. all the
time.
this then means we
would have to get an extra client lic. which is not

If you only want 1 or 2 lics then MSSQL7 (as MSDE) is free
Now, is that free as in bear, or as in speech?
MSDE comes with Access 2000, you also get rights to redist. it for free
-if- you own one of MS's recent development systems. So its not

A DB is too complex and valuable to be totally free
Aren't you contadicting yourself here?
IB6 is free so therefore it can't be complex/valuble/any good?

If you complete the shakespearian quote you will find that it goes on to say
that all it not as it seems...

yes, but not as bad as the "people" on slashdot, tho :)
Free as in MSDE has got to be better than dBase/Paradox/Jet..
the product is better, BUT you have to either buy 1100$ worth of Office 2000
PER USER or however much an office 2000 developer "pack"
