how big is the download?
One thing I am not sure about, and I keep hearing conflicting things, will
XE have cross platform support? I have seen and heard about there being not
64bit, and I have seen the extra tools that are now in Xe fromt he videos,
but they seem to have stared well clear of
Nope - XE has no cross-platform support (in the sense of Delphi compiler
support for anything other than Win32).
What rock have you been living under for the past month!? J

like I say I had really not seen anything definitive. Admittedlty I didnt

Begs the question, why upgrade? About the only thing that I have seen we
can use right now is the SVN stuff, and the Final builder stuff could come
in handy.
We have just abount finished upgrading a
From what has been blogged/demonstrated of the SVN IDE integration, it
doesn't appear as flexible or as useful (imho) as the JEDI SVN plug-in or
indeed straightforward Tortoise. This could be the result of being an SVN
adapter that is part of a generic (little g) version control plug-in
We are looking at having a couple of events here in October - Auckland,

I'm very keen to see them continue to improve stability and speed of the

We were told last year that Delphi 2010 was a productivity and quality
improvement release while we were dangled the carrots of Win64 and the

Now Delphi XE is being sold as ANOTHER productivity and quality improvement
release. Just how bad are they prepared to

Just curious,
Some had certainly not been addressed as of Delphi 2010. These are unlikely
to have been addressed in XE either since their status already suggests that
they are considered fixed (or in the case of suggestions/enhancements,
implemented) when they are not.
Which raises the question of what a
At the very least this time around they should be offering the unpadded
versions for significantly less than the normal price of an upgrade.
That is an interesting idea which I agree would be nice. I suspect

I had a look at your items. A couple of items are suggestions for new

A lot of these were made during the time Danny was looking after the

Yep, I forget the item #'s and don't have time to look them up right now,
but there was a suggestion w.r.t ASSERT() syntax highlighting that is
indicated as resolved/fixed/whatever. It isn't.
There was another which is a bug caused by qualifying class names in a form
declaration or naming a form

It is pretty lame but it was really a Quick Fix measure to pump
up the QC figures - in my opinion.
That sort of thing goes on? gasp ;)
e.g. File New VCL Application, rename form as MainMenu (yielding a form
class name of TMainMenu) then drop a TMainMenu component on it.
