Under Hardy, gdm 2.20.2-1ubuntu2 is not translated in french. I must
select french language, but after reboot gdm remain untranslated.
Steps :
Install hardy 20080104.
Use French preferences (at boot/keyboard/language)
After installation reboot - gdm
for me the problem was indeed the xorg.conf file. I'm running ubuntu
through VMware on windows XP. in terminal I typed the following:
sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
I entered the password and then I scrolled down in xorg.conf until I
found the resolution that I didn't like: 1920 x 1440. I

Same problem just occurred to me running HARDY. Repeated attempts to re-
run result in a starting about dialogue appearing on the lower desk

I used Chris Balcums' fix so at least the monitor doesn't go into
standby every 20 mins when watching a DVD (using VLC-I dont use Totem)
but it would be better if the managedment settings actually worked.

I cant seem to get the video codecs
I fixed it by clearing my home directory. And then I broke it again by
disabling all plugins except for DAAP sharing. Can someone else confirm
that turning off some plugins breaks this? (and possibly narrow it down
to one)

I'm happy to announce that this bug is fixed in hardy. Don't know what
exactly fixed it.. I've upgraded my mobocpu, but the cdrom drive is the
same, so I don't think that hardware had anything to do with it.

performs the multiple pages continous scrolling layout, is not applied
as default after evince is restarted, wich is pretty annoying cause you
need to set it again every time even

You also need to edit the gtkrc file in
/usr/share/themes/Darklooks/gtk-2.0/ where it says that the tooltips
should be yellow..
what you should change is on the fourth line;
\nselected_fg_color:#7AA3CC\ntooltips_bg_color:#EDDE5C\ntooltips_fg_color:#00
Change it to;
You probably need to change what Adrian suggested as well though.

It wont play anything I used a new dvd as well as an older one . and even a
avi file file from the net . I looked up the codecs for the player because the
movie player said I needed them but when I tried to put them in the command
line it said there was no codecs package . I really like
