The problem went away for a few weeks and then reappeared. Waiting 30
seconds to open a 1 page pdf is not normal. During the hanging, the cpu
is idling, so it's not doing some heavy duty calculation.
I have attached a new backtrace with more debug symbols. The program

Yes, it's still an issue with gnome-panel 1:2.29.92.1-0ubuntu3 in Lucid
(and samba 2:3.4.5~dfsg-2ubuntu3).

I have no idea how to enter in sudo mode sorry. I just know that the command on
the command line worked without me using sudo. but after executing the chmod i
was able to create a link. Though, all folders now have locks on the top right

I can also confirm this with a MacBook 2,1. The difference is that when
I boot the Live CD, I can actually get to the desktop. I've tried both
an update from Karmic and a full install from the CD (without booting to
the live CD). I'm now trying a full wipe and install from the liveCD.

Same thing happened to me after adding 5 new locations. Not using amd64.
I couldn't reproduce the bug, either by adding additional locations, or
removing all but the default and adding back the ones that caused the
first crash.

After two installs (one update from Karmic and then one format and
install straight off the CD), I tried booting into the LiveCD which
worked. From there, I formatted my Linux partition in gparted and then
installed from the CD desktop. Voila. Full boot into Lucid

because the most probably reason of this problem was related to network
conectivity, I tried to search some words few minutes ago and everything

UPDATE
SInce it appears, from other posts, to be an Intel driver issue, I
booted into recovery mode and deleted:
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so
Booted right up (very fast) and has been running for about 10 minutes.
