From my little perspective, it seems like it would be nice if gnome-
terminal defaulted to 80x25. A quick search and a read of wikipedia
seems to indicate that 80x25 is the most common format:

a separate partition from / and /tmp. Don't encrypt the home. See if

This looks to me to be a problem with Nautilus (or whatever is providing
the delete-trash mechanism).
I suspect that it doesn't want to move files across mount points, as
this can take a long time (as compared to flipping a few inodes).
If your trash bin is in your encrypted Home, then to move a
I use Evolution and Encrypted Home, and I've never seen this issue.
However, I certainly agree that there are situations when the home
directory is not unmounted because of lingering processes. This is
required to protect your data.

I'm sorry, but an encrypted home directory and gdm-autologin are two
features that are simply incompatible.
We handled this in the installer by allowing you to only one of 3 different
options:
1) auto login (no password)
2) login with a password
3) login with a password and decrypt your home

ecryptfs-utils has nothing to do with the desktop icon. It simply
establishes a mount point. The desktop then adds icons for dynamic
mounts. Perhaps the desktop team has a way to blacklist the ~/Private

I must admit that I don't entirely grasp the scope of the issue you're
raising with /home living on a networked filesystem (sorry).

I have tested my patch.
It works well with:
* bash
* dash
* ksh
* ash
But does not work with:
* zsh
* csh
* fish
* tcsh
* es
* rc
* sash
I did not see any ill-effects on the shells where it didn't work,
besides not finding executables in ~/bin. And I think we have the vast
majority
My patch also works with:
* Gnome + Alt-F2
* XFCE + Alt-F2
* KDE
This provides the desired behavior covers the main Ubuntu desktop
managers, and the Bourne-compatible shells (dash, bash, ash, ksh) and
would benefit the majority of [K/X/U]buntu users.
It does *not* break functionality on

This appears to be related to the fact that I changed my local user
name. I recursively changed ownership on all .evolution/ files. But
apparently my former username must be embedded in some configuration
files, breaking some parts of Evolution.

update for Hardy.
This is a common use case for me, I use it many times a day.

I like the message preview window option. Ctrl-M
If evolution crashes, or if I poweroff my system, or even logout of my
desktop without first closing evolution, I have to turn message preview
back on. Seems like this option should be
