Also, for what it's worth: This seems to only happen when I'm actively
interacting with the computer. I leave my sessions running overnight
most nights, and have never seen it crash to a login screen overnight.

I'd like to add that you don't even have to do any tricks with showing
hidden files, simply tab swapping will kill the scrollbar. Resizing the
window brings it back for the active tab, but loses the scrollbar(s) for
the other tabs.

I removed the notification area accidentally.
When I re-added the notification area to the panel, the regular system tray
icons appeared as small windows with the symbols instead of on the panel. I

Googling around I and trying different things I found from

solved my problem. I have no idea what the command does, but it fixes

I can reproduce this bug. Anytime the window manager is switched from
compiz to metacity (or vice versa) and you press a volume key g-s-d will
crash, themes will flicker, and you have to wait about 5 seconds before
volume functionality is restored. From then on you can use the volume
keys freely

Yes. When I press the sync button on my Zire, the gnome-pilot
progressbar appears and informs me that the EAddress starts and
succesfully ends. Then it says that ECalendar starts and hangs. In the
meantime two gnome-pilot settings windows open, and a Bug-Buddy window.

Should this patch totally remove the problem, or can it theoretically
still happen?
I observed the same behavior today but I just updated a lot of packages
without rebooting/relogging, so it might be something else that made it
happen. Anyways I have only seen it once, so it have improved a lot.

Okay, I've managed to get my SB Audigy 2 NX working again, which means
that the MP3s that worked on my onboard sound card now again refuse to
play. After installing your package, the files still refuse to play,
just as before.
Could it be an issue with the drivers for the sound card?

onboard sound card (SIS something or other) and they worked fine. (I
used to be playing them on my USB Audigy 2 NX).
Now, though, I can't seem to re-enable the Audigy as a sound playback
device.

Same problem here
When I manually start gpilotd in stead of using the panel-applet everything
works allright.
So the problem seems to be in de applet.
