I can confirm this bug has been fixed in Maverick, at least when using
metacity. I tried using metacity, compiz, and xmonad, and gnome-panel
won't glow when I scroll wheel quickly regardless of which one I use.

I just upgraded to Lucid. Now nautilus tries to open .exe files with
file roller instead of wine. Ironically, the icon for the file is a wine
glass, which indicates that some part of nautilus has correctly
identified the file type, just not all

I am experiencing this bug on Intrepid. This install is only 2 days old,
and AFAIK I have _never_ run chmod or chown or any other permission
changing command. I have installed a fair number of packages through
aptitude, including a few from unofficial repositories (Skype, Wine, KDE
4.2 from the
As a workaround, I ran this in the terminal:
sudo chmod -R 700 /home/prophet
sudo chown -R prophet /home/prophet
And that fixed the problem for me. Substitute prophet for your own
username. Interestingly, my whole home directory was marked drwxrwxrwx
before this, and after it's now drwx--
The issue is not fixed for me either as of the Gutsy beta. If I try to
set a shortcut to use the Windows/Super key, it just sets the shortcut
to be SuperL and ignores whatever else I press (so it's treated as a
normal key instead of a modifier). In case it's relevant, I'm using a
Dell Vostro 1400,

I'm running dapper. I tried some other CDs and you're right, not every
CD does it. But one CD I have will do it everytime -- the CD for an old
DOS game called Relentless (but it's a commercial CD, not a CDR copy or
anything).

now there is some mysterious .Trash folder and they don't have the
