I wish there was some way to bypass this... As an option to tell the
documents this is Adobe Reader X...

are saying that is temporary. The problem is I cannot select profiles
with more than 2 channels yet I require 4.0 for my card to work
properly on my setup.

Hi David, I got access to the Emu-0404 card and confirmed that
pavucontrol effectively gives access to all the profiles. As noted in
comment #32, this work around is working but I still feel that masking
all the profiles supported by a sound card is risky. I understand the
initial intend of not

where i cannot modify (or even view) the mp3 settings.
I thought patch rhythmbox.gep to work with user-supplied custom settings

I have this issue since updating from Lucid to Precise. Even switched to
Pidgin because of this. I have no realy clue why it happens, but it
seems to be related to multiple open empathy windows on multiple
desktops and then receiving a message from somebody where you have
already a window open on

If not, this is actually a pulseaudio problem
rather than a problem with the sound settings UI.
Since the Analog Surround 4.0 profile works well, it would be nice if
the soundnua could make it visible/available/selectable.

installed, which is a few versions stale. In addition, killing gnome-
settings-daemon has some unfortunate consequences of having any
application that depends on it for configuration fall back to defaults,
unless restarted as well

was a bug and it was driving me crazy, I'm used to smoothly dragging
windows between dual monitors. After looking around, I finally found the
Sticky Edges setting in display settings and turned it off.

also runing 12.04. Killing g-s-d fixes the numlock issue but seems to
cause X to take a lot more CPU than before.

An update to my last comment; After killing the gnome-settings-daemon,
the custom shortcuts begin working *for the remainder of the session*.
Logging out or rebooting resets the behavior, until gnome-settings-

Yes I'm using a 64 bit system so there should be no problem there.
I don't have the USB sound card at hand right now (it belongs to my
father that I converted to Ubuntu :) ) and probably won't for the next 2
weeks or so. If another affected user could run the test that might be
faster
I have installed the gnome-settings-daemon package from the ppa, killed
the gnome-settings-daemon process and waited for it to respawn; the
custom keyboard shortcuts began working immediately.

I finally managed to get access to the affected sound card again. I have
attached a few files as you asked previously. In comment #13 you asked
me which profile I think I was missing but I don't really know since
what's available in Precise does not work from the gnome-control-center
From the pactl list cards under Precise, I see that all the profiles
with iec958 are missing the 40 and are only stereo profiles. I
think that's part of the problem since on Lucid I need to use the
output:iec958-surround-40+input:iec958-stereo: Digital Surround 4.0
(IEC958) Output + Digital Stereo
Also attaching aplay -l and gnome-control-center with the
libsoundnua.so log output.

Thanks for looking into this. Unfortunately, the new design is hiding
something I used to rely on. The sound card in question, an E-MU 404
USB, also offers many profiles and one of them is Digital Surround
Output 4.0 + IEC958 (S/PDIF) Digital Audio Output (I don't have the
device at
I was only able to get the pactl list cards from Lucid as the laptop
is not physically accessible ATM and I cannot easily reboot on Precise
LiveCD. I hope that's good enough for now.

Are you trying to set the alias of MSN or non-MSN accounts?
If you're trying to set the alias of non-MSN accounts and it doesn't
work, that probably means the prpl (libpurple protocol plugin)

Then that's not a Haze bug; please ask the developers of Pidgin

My Oneiric fresh install is also affected by this change. My enigmail
(GPG for Thunderbird) configuration was migrated from Natty where it was
configured to ask for me a password to unlock my GPG key. Now, in
Oneiric, enigmail always has access to my GPG key and never prompts me
for a password.

When I suspend my laptop (Samsung NC10) and resume the system. The
gnome-screensaver lock dialog box appears.
This is fully functional, I can enter my password and unlock without
problem - except that you cannot use the mouse to click on the Unlock or

In my case the problem is with deb packages and gdebi.
$ gvfs-mime --query application/x-deb
Default application for 'application/x-deb': ubuntu-software-center.desktop

But when I try
