[Bug 281314] [NEW] Keyboard and Mouse not recognized on GDM login screen (but can ctrl+alt+F1 to get to a terminal)
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I need help further diagnosing it, but today (Friday October 10th) I installed the mornings updates to interpid, and upon rebooting GDM login screen will not recognize (zero response) my keyboard (both external and built in on my laptop) or mouse (both external and trackpad). I can however use ctrl+alt+f1 to get to a terminal and interact with the computer that way. I've also double checked to see if there are any more updates that might fix this problem, and apt-get upgrade doesn't give any result. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- Keyboard and Mouse not recognized on GDM login screen (but can ctrl+alt+F1 to get to a terminal) https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/281314 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
Re: [Bug 280646] Re: ACPI brightness events no longer work on ThinkPad T61
Hi Matt, since I did this upgrade, keyboard and mouse don't work after I rebooted... not sure if this is caused by your updated package (or one of their dependency like xinput). I'm currently writing this from Hardy since my Intrepid install is unusable... ;) Matt Zimmerman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: There is a package in my PPA with this patch: https://edge.launchpad.net/~mdz/+archive deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/mdz/ubuntu intrepid main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/mdz/ubuntu intrepid main I haven't been able to test it on the T61 yet, but would appreciate regression testing nonetheless. -- ACPI brightness events no longer work on ThinkPad T61 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/280646 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. The OCD display does not display. On some systems (e.g. Thinkpad 61's), it also prevents brightness from changing. This seems to be a new behavior in Intrepid, and not reproducible on Hardy A further issue on Thinkpad T61's is that the numlock key does not signal toggle off properly. This can be seen in xkbwatch, which shows that some modifiers are not getting turned off when numlock is toggled off. [Bug 279800] Re: GStreamer update (7-Oct-2008, Intrepid) causes Banshee crash
Alright, well, this isn't going to yield as much information as you'd like, I'm afraid. I have the debugger attached to the process at the moment, and am attaching the debug session. However, when I did p gst_object_get_name(0x169ee30) (0x169ee30 being the pad number this time around) after the SIGABRT, I was greeted with: == (gdb) p gst_object_get_name(0x169ee30) [Thread 0x43abf950 (LWP 8863) exited] == Banshee was responsive again, tried to activate a new song, and that of course failed. I gave a SIGINT, and got: == [Thread 0x43abf950 (LWP 9304) exited] ^C Program received signal SIGINT, Interrupt. [Switching to Thread 0x7f99deb98710 (LWP 8581)] 0x7f99ddeb0b04 in __lll_lock_wait () from /lib/libpthread.so.0 The program being debugged was signaled while in a function called from GDB. GDB remains in the frame where the signal was received. To change this behavior use set unwindonsignal on Evaluation of the expression containing the function (gst_object_get_name) will be abandoned. == Alright, so I tried to continue a few times, failing of course. So, I did another backtrace and found out that gst_object_get_parent(...) was calling for a mutex, and hanging on attempting to get it. I don't know how to work around that. I'll leave the debugger active for now... Any advice on how to proceed from here? [Bug 274630] Re: GDM crashes after restart
Ok, this isn't very useful.. but here is the information I collected: I Ctrl-Alt-F2'd into a terminal to stop it crashing on boot. Then I re- started the gdm. The system locked up again, but I was able to gain ssh access for about 20 seconds before it because unresponsive. There was no message in the syslog and no message in messages past the initial boot messages. I know this because I appended them with a mark before restarting the gdm. What can I try now to sort this? Re: [Bug 200337] Re: CD/DVD burning problem in hardy
pliz wrote: To Leann Ogasawara: (some offtopic) I booted into the Live CD of intrepid but the graphics would not start. I traced it down to the fact that my Wacom Graphire3 table was plugged in to USB. When the tablet is unplugged, X starts with no problem, but crashes almost immediately after I plug in the tablet. Logs say error due to conflict between mouse and the tablet. I did not try the CD/DVD issue. Not to jump in on this, since it doesn't much matter anymore... But I had a problem with my DVD burner as well. The cause was the mountpoint and a config file that was left over from the earlier version. All that it took to fix it was to delete /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-cd.rules and reboot... Well actually I moved the file to my home directory just in case I needed it... Seems this was causing the problem. It gets regenerated on reboot. So if you're having problems this might be worth a shot... Some bugs come from changes between versions with old config files laying around.
