[Bug 144778] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()

2008-10-19 Thread Simon Ives
Just had this bug running Evolution 2.24.0 in Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid)
Beta, Linux Kernel 2.6.27-7-generic, and GNOME 2.24.0.

No idea what caused it. I left the PC for a few hours and when I
returned Evolution had crashed.

[Bug 285166] Re: rhythmbox doesn't store compilations in a single directory

2008-10-19 Thread Ted
What happens if you change the Library Structure item in the
configuration? I believe by default when ripping CD's, it stores in the
hierarchy Artist/Album, but you can change that by going to
EditPreferences, then the 'Music' tab. You could change it to store by
album.

The issue here really is that Rhythmbox has no way to tell if the CD
it's ripping is an album or a mix without the user telling it.

[Bug 285769] [NEW] Evolution Seg Fault on New Calendar Entery

2008-10-19 Thread Yahya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I am using Ubuntu 8.04.1
With the standard Evolution version (2.22.3.1-0ubuntu1)

When I go to the Calendars Day View and highlight a group of time slots
(say from 10 AM to 11 AM) then start text entery, I press Shift+Enter to
go to a new line. As soon as press the combination Evolution crashes
with Segmentation fault.

I've done this more than one time with same result. The only message I
get when I run Evolution from the command line is the Segmentation fault
message.

[Bug 285781] [NEW] Ekiga truncates passwords containing |

2008-10-19 Thread David Gibson
Public bug reported:

If I enter a password containing a '|' (pipe) character into the
password field in the Edit|Accounts Properties box, when I close then
re-enter the properties box, the password has been truncated. The
truncated password is shown only as dots, of course, but the number is
equal to the number of characters before the '|' in the original
password.

This is clearly a bug - you can't connect to a SIP account with a
password containing '|'. Worse, it suggests the possibility that the
password is somewhere being passed to a shell, or something for which
'|' is a control character.

[Bug 285782] [NEW] Evolution does not preserve outgoing SMTP Password

2008-10-19 Thread Flavelle
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution used to preserve the password for the SMTP outgoing server (I
have only one), so that I didn't have to re-enter it everytime. After a
recent upgrade (currently showing 2.24.0), I have to provide the SMTP
password once each session. I have not tested what the definition of a
'session' is, but it is really annoying!

The following box appears when trying to send an email for the first

Then there is an option to check a box that says:

[Bug 256749] Re: Unable to mount location -- Internal error: No mount object for mounted volume

2008-10-19 Thread Alastair Sherringham
Any partition not mounted but available in the Computer option.

If I double-click either of the 2 other unmounted partitions I have, I
get this message (but the mount happens).

If I plug in a USB stick - it automounts on desktop and a nautilus window
opens. OK.
If I close the browser and right-click/unmount the USB stick, icon goes away.
If I double-click the USB stick in the Computer window, to re-mount, I get
the error message.

This is a fully updated Intrepid as of 2008-10-19.

[Bug 285879] [NEW] gnome-appearance-properties keeps asking to install unneeded proprietary fglrx driver when enabling or changing Visual Effects

2008-10-19 Thread Nick Bauermeister
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I'm on a fully updated intrepid ibex and Compiz is working out-of-the-box with
the open radeon driver.
However, when going to the Visual Effects tab in gnome-appearance-properties
and changing the effects from Normal to Extra I am prompted to Enable the
proprietary fglrx driver (screenshot attached).

Please note: Compiz is in fact already running and canceling the po-pup will
change the effects set just fine.
The problem is: it keeps prompting every single time when trying to change the
properties while it should not do this at all.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
Package: gnome-control-center 1:2.24.0.1-0ubuntu6

[Bug 285873] [NEW] gdmsetup does not set a11y gconf key

2008-10-19 Thread Francesco Fumanti
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I am running gdm 2.20.8-0ubuntu3 on the Ubuntu 8.10 development version.

When I enable Assistive Technology by using gdmsetup (I don't know whether
there is another way to enable it), the gconf key
/desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility remains set to FALSE instead of getting
the value TRUE.

Assistive Technology seems however to work correctly as
- I it is possible to start assistive tools by mouse gestures
- the assistive tool named mousetweaks, that needs atspi to function, works
properly at gdm (We had to disable the gconf key check in the code of
mousetweaks, otherwise mousetweaks would not start up as the AT gconf key shows
FALSE even if AT is running.)

Could anybody please look at the problem, as the Assistive Tools that rely on
that key to check whether AT is running will not get the correct information?

Please, don't hesitate to contact me if you need additional information.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 256749] Re: Unable to mount location -- Internal error: No mount object for mounted volume

2008-10-19 Thread danielhollocher
well, if you guys want me to reopen this bug, I can. If you are quite
sure of yourself about this bug, and its reproducibility, then lets
reopen. BTW, you guys can open the bug yourself too.

But, you may want to wait till the release candidate is released, to
see if this bug is still around.

[Bug 285937] [NEW] gconftool-2 in Intrepid not working from cron

2008-10-19 Thread mike2357
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gconf

In Hardy and prior versions, I used cron to call a script to change my
screen background. In Intrepid, these commands do not work from cron,
although they do work from the command line. For some reason,
gconftool-2 is not attaching to my session. The script is executing
fine and produces output, it's just that the gconftool-2 commands don't
have any effect.

Commands:
gconftool-2 -t str --set /desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename
$picture_name
gconftool-2 -t str --set /desktop/gnome/background/picture_options stretched

Clue:
When the script it run from cron, the following command gives an exit status of
2, which means gconfd is not running. When run from the command line, it gives
an exit status of 0, wihch means gconfd is running.
gconftool-2 --ping

[Bug 174832] Re: ubuntu gnome-terminal - wrong key mapping in bash with a french keyboard

2008-10-19 Thread Dieter P
Your proposal is pretty much what most users on the GTK bugtracker seem
to agree would be the best solution.

There are already some patches like that on the gtk bugtracker. Maybe
the gnome/ubuntu guys can take a look at it, clean them up if needed
and integrate it. Maybe, hopefully, ubuntu/debian devs can even
convince the gtk folks to integrate it...

[Bug 283176] Re: gst-launch-0.10 crashes with SIGSEGV in libgstdvdread.so in cur_title_get_chapter_bounds

2008-10-19 Thread Brion Swanson
No, the movie is a commercial DVD that I own and I'm trying to rip.
Oddly, it only seems to be this movie. If I use gst-launch0.10 with
another movie (say, Snatch) it works just fine.

I am able to rip The Patriot using VLC, but not gst-launch0.10. So this
bug's priority can be set to low since I have a work-around. It's still
interesting as to why it breaks on some DVDs and not others.

Thanks for all your help. I'm still happy to give you any info I can.
