[Bug 454234] Re: eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed
Hi All, I'm not sure how/what to change here, but I think I've tracked down the bug, and it's an Ubuntu bug and not in the original Nautilus code. After some debugging and stack tracing, here is what I've found (looking at the nautilus-2.28.1-0ubuntu3 sources): - In src/nautilus-main.c, around line 465, there is a call to eel_preferences_get_boolean(); this is an Ubuntu patch, related to the boot curtain - However, the call to nautilus_global_preferences_init(), which initializes the eel preferences code, only comes on line 509. Result? Every time you run Nautilus you will get this error. Probable fix? Move the boot curtain code down after the initialization call. I've tried this and it seems to work (see attached patch below), but I may be missing some bigger picture. -- eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/454234 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 492248] [NEW] Offline IMAP synchronisation unreliable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) Evolution 2.28.1 IMAP - confirmed with Gmail and local ISP mail server I have set folders to be marked for offline synchronisation, as well as enabling the automatic synchronisation option. Have synchronised for offline use and switched offline, and synchronised again when prompted. Many emails are not available when offline, and network usage indicates that not much has been downloaded. Have attempted on two different systems, both using Karmic. This is very important to me as this is the main reason to use Evolution, as I currently have no other way to backup an IMAP email folder. Seems to happen on large email accounts. Tried on a small email account, and seems to have worked. On large email accounts, it seems only a small number of random emails are downloaded. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Offline IMAP synchronisation unreliable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/492248 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 488391] Re: intermittent very slow X login with eventual dbus error
This is not likely to be a gnome-settings-daemon issue really. It doesn't register with the session manager (it just fork()'s when all the plugins are loaded). Even if it doesn't do this in time, the phase timeout is only 10 seconds anyway so wouldn't account for a 3 minute delay. It seems like the panel fails to register too, and the GVFS error will only occur if gvfs-gdu-volume-monitor is not contactable (it should be d-bus activated). There seems to be something fairly fundamental wrong or missing from your session, which basically stops most components from working. Is this a fresh install? Has this install ever worked, or did you change something? Could you please try logging in to a failsafe xterm session from GDM, and then running gnome-session --debug 21 | tee gnome-session.log, and attach the resulting file to this bug report. [Bug 492137] Re: gnome-panel keep restarting due to segfault
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. However, that workaround is not constantly working... sometimes it does work and sometimes does not (tested in http://vbox7.com/)...
