doesnt update itself in lucid. after boot into the desktop its never
there. and never shows unless I do killall gnome-panel, that would
reboot the panel and get it there updated.
I know why it does that, it's because of the wireless connection not
taking IP from DHCP fast enough at boot b4 the

I am also seeing this problem on two different computers. I also tried this
connecting to two different servers, proftp and vsftp, and behaviour is the
same across both servers from both computers.

Just upgraded to 10.04 from 9.10 and noticed the same issue.
Just noticed though that switching the radio boxes on the Background tab
got it working. I switched from Transparent (the state when i upgraded
from 9.10) to Solid Color and then to Background Image and the
transparency bar started

I can also confirm this bug, I recently changed one account from POP to
IMAP and all of the sudden all HTML e-mails received on that account
have this problem.
My messages are processed through many filters and I have just turned
that off on this account to see if that has any effect.

It may be difficult to fix because it must be approached form each-and-
every-project, but I'd like to point out that it might not be that hard
